A Thompson, a pinstripe suit, a 1934 Cadillac Phaeton, a gun moll, and a snarl in your voice like Edward G. Robinson or Jimmy Cagney...

"Yeah, listen to me copper, you'll never take me alive, see?"

A good friend of mine that passed away recently had a dual cowl Packard Phaeton that was supposedly Al Capone's gift to Mayor Thompson of Chicago. I can't verify the story, but it is an absolutely beautiful car that was customized in two ways. Under the rear seat was a hidden compartment for a case of booze and behind a hidden panel in the rear seat was a form fitted compartment for a thompson submachine gun and a round clip. And yes.... my buddy had a thompson to fit the space.

My mother used to have a 29 Buick Marquette with a liquor door in the side to a compartment under the backseat.

It was a nice car but a bear to get started after it sat for a few weeks.
