Default Pelosi's Big Screw-up

This is what happens when you screw around with foreign policy and diplomacy that you know nothing about. You get yourself in big trouble and make a fool of yourself:

Israel Denies Giving Pelosi Message For Syria
April 5, 2007 5:43 a.m. EST

Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent

Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - The Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem on Wednesday rebuffed visiting U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's assertion that she was carrying an Israeli offer to resume direct peace negotiations to the Syrians.

Pelosi met in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar Assad earlier in the day, just days after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. At a joint press conference with the Syrian leader, Pelosi said that she had delivered "a message from Prime Minister Olmert that Israel was ready to engage in peace talks."

But a statement issued by Olmert's office insisted that no such message had been entrusted to Pelosi.

"What was communicated to the U.S. House speaker does not contain any change in the policies of Israel," read the statement.

What Olmert did tell Pelosi, according to the communique, is that "although Israel is interested in peace with Syria, that country continues to be part of the axis of evil and a force that encourages terror in the entire Middle East."

Until Syria ends its support for and relationship with known terrorist organizations and the extremist regime in Tehran, Israel simply cannot take seriously its public peace overtures, said Olmert.

Pelosi's visit to Damascus came amid harsh criticism from U.S. President George W. Bush, who said the House speaker was contradicting U.S. foreign policy, and thereby sending mixed signals to the Assad regime."

I'll be interested in hearing her reply. Did she really misunderstand him that badly? I guess so since I doubt she would out and out make it up.

Default Whoa doggie

.....even the liberal Washington Post is blasting Ms. Pelosi:

"The really striking development here is the attempt by a Democratic congressional leader to substitute her own foreign policy for that of a sitting Republican president. Two weeks ago Ms. Pelosi rammed legislation through the House of Representatives that would strip Mr. Bush of his authority as commander in chief to manage troop movements in Iraq. Now she is attempting to introduce a new Middle East policy that directly conflicts with that of the president. We have found much to criticize in Mr. Bush's military strategy and regional diplomacy. But Ms. Pelosi's attempt to establish a shadow presidency is not only counterproductive, it is foolish."

The botox has gone to her ears, I guess.
Or perhaps maybe she was just embellishing and spinning. She does so much of it here in our country, it's all she knows.

Someone needs to pull her aside and whisper in her ear and say..."Nancy, you were voted into Congress by a very tiny constituency around San Francisco....you aren't the Commander-In-Chief and you aren't the Secretary of State and you know NOTHING about foreign policy and you sure as heck were NOT elected to anything by the people of the United States NOR do you speak for them."

Apparently going agianst her Constitual role wasnt enough..now shes's playing Amassador for another nation.

She said the meeting with the Syrian leader "enabled us to communicate a message from Prime Minister Olmert that Israel was ready to engage in peace talks as well."

According to officials in the Prime Minister's Office, however, this was not what transpired during her meeting with Olmert.

The officials said Olmert had told Pelosi that he thought her trip to Damascus was a mistake, and that when she asked - nevertheless - whether he had a message for Assad, Olmert said Syria should first stop supporting terrorism and "act like a normal country," and only then would Israel be willing to hold discussions.

The first part of that message, the officials said, was lost in what was reported from Damascus on Wednesday

Don't blame me, I had nothing to do with her getting her dam job.
blame only those who were stupid enough to vote her in.

I did not know how or when, she would do something stupid, I only
knew she would. But I must admit, it came earlier then I thought.

Gee
