Default Condi hammered Iran on new sanctions

If the new sanctions and tough talk from the coalition of nations, which is most all except Russia, gets Iran to back down, the dems won't be looking so good.

Sean Penn will be crushed that his friend, ahmadinejad, won't be able to go nuclear. And this will surely have Hugo Chavez frothing at the mouth.

"The Bush administration accused Iran on Thursday of sponsoring terrorism and imposed harsh new sanctions against Tehran - the toughest measures since the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in 1979".

The sanctions don't really prevent them from going nuclear. I'm guessing work is moving on just as before.

The restrictions on anyone or any business doing business with Iran, will be dealt with harshly by the world powers. They have circumvented the BS from the UN as it has had zero effect.

The UN again has shown it's total ineffectiveness on dealing with any world crisis
They have become as worthless as teats on a boar

Can't say I disagree with the UN comments, but the U.S. can only enforce sanctions in one place: The U.S. Any other country is free to do what they wish. And Iran's two biggest friends, Russia and China, won't do anything. I don't see anything there that prevents uranium enrichment.

condi's words are so going to stop iran. thanks for sharing ... i can sleep well tonite just knowing that no nuclear device will not be headed my way courtesy of ahmadinejad.
so appreciate your timely sharing of this insignificant occurrence while ignoring condi's testimony before congress about the massive corruption in iraq. what a patriot

But we are China's biggest customer and we could put incredible pressure on them.

We indeed are. But it's not a matter of us holding all the cards. Keep in mind that aside from them funding a large portion of our deficit, they also hold massive dollar reserves and supply tons of manufactured goods to us, some of which go into other manufactured goods. Goods that cannot be quickly sourced elsewhere and goods which will rise in cost materially once they are sourced elsewhere. Combine that with the dollar dump and the higher interest rates certain to follow and we are in deep crap, too, should we decide to play hard ball. My opinion? We don't do much in regard to China.

Sanctions have proven to be just about the most worthless thing in the world to enact change in an unfriendly country. They never work.

What do you mean they never work? Look how quickly Castro left office after we put sanctions in place.
