You must have dual citizen-ship to be such an expert on both countries.

Nor should Australia be subserviante to the UN in a manner that does not allow itself to protect Australia's citizens. I think we should consider our distinctions between politics and reality here. Concerning Tibet that was politics on our side, not reality. As a Conservative here I can understand why that approach was taken, but it doesn't make it the best decision and probably should be presented to a group of nations other than the UN given some of the UN's failures. International diplomacy is the key here. McCain has said he would support a league of democracies and it will be a talking point within the campaign. I included this link just to show this has already been identified as an issue. http://atlanticreview.org/archives/1...mocracies.html

I will add that I disagree with someone holding a political office while running for an office of higher power. Politicians should have to relinquish their political office prior to running for a higher political office.

the iraq war has always been about the US.
so whether its Australian troops or British troops, they stepped up for us so we didnt have to fight completely alone. they already proved their loyalty and friendship just by showing up. so thanks for the help, and God save the queen.

What on earth does the Queen need saving from? Hip replacement surgery?
As Chesby said, Rudd had the guts to stand up to China and pretty much condemn them - in their own language. Howard never have the guts, as he was too much of a black sheep. He followed Bush and co into war because his head was up Bush's butt. He went against what the majority of Australians wanted, he refused to listen to what we wanted. He ignored us, and blindly followed Bush into a war we should never have become involved with in the first place. I commend Rudd for listening to the Australian people, and heeding our wishes, by removing our troops from Iraq.

Plus, we are constantly being ridiculed for not contributing enough to the world effort, now and throughout history, no matter what we do. If we kept our troops there we'd be sissies because there's only 500 combat troops, if we take them out we're sissies for taking them out.
Can't win no-how, so no point in listening to what anyone else thinks. That certainly is something we learned from the US.

I hope our country is not expected to contribute anything to the rebuilding of Iraq.

They are not withdrawing completely and they have not abandoned Iraq.
