What's wrong with taking care of your friends?

The windfall profits from this contract will help stimulate the economy by putting extraordinary amounts of money in the hands of the rich, who don't have to pay as much in taxes and who can then purchase more products produced in other countries. Then, those countries will take the profits and be able to industrialize and in turn, produce more products that can be purchased by companies in the United States. Those products will be sold to Illegal Aliens in Walmart and the people who sold those products will be able to make a paycheck. With their paycheck and foodstamps, they will be able to borrow money on a credit card and have enough resources to pay more taxes than the wealthy, and buy enough food to almost not starve. Those taxes will be used to fight the war in Iraqastan and make everyone safer.

The end.

I now see the big picture of Bushes economy plan, Im changing my vote to Bush now. I thought he was just doing it to line his greedy supporters pockets, I didnt know he was doing it for all of us.

Default .

Is this supposed to surprise anyone?

Gotta keep earning that "deferred compensation" money. After all, I still enjoy "deferred compensation" from a job I had during college. I mean, I haven't worked there for years, but they keep paying me....

That's ok, though. If Bush and Cheny aren't currently on Halliburton's payroll (other than the deferred compensation), I am sure they will be once they are out of office.

Whether the Cheney directly ok'd the contracts or not isn't the issue. The issue is the appearance of inpropriety. The fact that Cheney was teh CEO of this company before he became VP and now that company is benfitting the most from Gov't contracts portraying the Administrations as a bunch of "good ole boys" taking care of their friends. True or not, they have still conveyed this message to many Americans and should answer any questions that are asked of it.

Default Opensecrets

Have you guys ever been to

http://www.opensecrets.org

You can see everything about anyone who gives to a politcal canidate.
It is no big surprise that the Oil & Gas industry gives more to Bush than every other canidate combined.

Yes while this is just a small percentage of his overall insane campaign finances, it is interesting compare the industries who support him and his money income.

(*)(*)(*)(*) right it's not, he used to be in the oil business, after all.

I'm sick of people whining about our President having experience with oil and business. If ANYTHING I want my President to know about oil, after all, it's at the center of the economy. Always.

Having a bit of business experience might help a bit with the oil lark.

Default Business experience?

A BIT OF BUSINESS EXPERIENCE????

He screwed up every business enterprise he ever took hold of. He ran them into the ground, I can't say that that is an impressive track record for what is best for the american oil industry. Why don't you think Greenspan invests in the public stock market? Conflict of interest. I wonder if we could ever have a president with the moral sense to not make an overwhelming majority of their decisions that as focused around the benefit for the industry they used to work for.
