Not that the poor don't work, but they don't work the hours The CEO of GE or any other Fortune 500 company does.
They could if they were not working so hard? Sheesh!

This subject always goes no where.

It’s just as asinine to make the statement that "all" the poor are poor because they don’t work hard enough, as it is to say that "all" rich people are rich because they earned it from their hard work.

"All" is a big bridge to cross, and nothing is guaranteed! NOTHING!

Well I was talking about finances, not death, but I get the point as distorted as it was.

But it’s not your $800.00? It’s the governments $800.00, or more realistically our grandkids money the government is playing with. You will be taxed on it as income and you will pay some of it back next year.

It’s a loan at least, and a bribe at most!

P.S. I certainly didn't say you shouldn't get some of your own money back, just for the record. That was JP assumption!

I would feel much better letting our social programs give my $800 to the alcoholic/drug addicts that live on the street, they do need their fix you know. I'm with the liberals on this one, give them a hand out instead of a hand up, it seems to work so well.

Most people don't want to think about the reality that you have illustrated. We live in a drive-thru culture. Quick food, quick fixes, quick goods and quick money. Never mind that the money we are being "refunded" is actually a loan against our future generations and us.

As well, never mind that ALL U.S. currency has no tangible value, and has debt automatically attached to it the second the Federal Reserve releases it to the U.S. population.

You are correct: this is nothing more than a bribe, just like in 2001 when $300 checks were cut to employed U.S. citizens. Out of all the income tax money that Americans have willingly bent over and given the government, it saddens the rational person that sees through this system of debt that anyone would celebrate this shiester move.

Anyone who celebrates this $300 - $800 slap in the face obviosuly looks past the bigger picture in lieu of the instant "happiness" our culture has become.

.
It is not a loan if you cut the crap out of social programs, and by the way, this countries debt has been worse. You obviously were missed when they were asking for the man on the street opinions on how to fix our down turn in the economy. You Bush haters always have the answer, never mind it is the wrong one, the majority of economists know this is a spark to reignite.

I will agree with you on our societal impatience, needing to have everything now, that is in and of itself a nightmare for most. For being the wealthiest nation on the planet, our population is absolutely pathetic on the amount they have in savings. Oh well, I guess a free society doesn't guarantee intelligence.

If ya gotta pay it back it's a loan!

If it is given with nothing accepted in return it is a gift!

If it is given by someone who doesn't own it and someone else is responsible for paying for it, or paying it back, it is stealing!

If I pay into it and get some of my money back without any strings attached it is a rebate!

Liking or disliking Bush doesn't change the definitions.

You really need to stop labelling people as "Bush Haters" when they don't agree with you.

If you have payed attention to my stance, instead of dabbling in seperatism, you may understand that I am against social programs- as a matter of fact, I am against the federal government dictating ANY social policy.

So are you going to wait for the Fed to cut interest rates yet again to "stimulate" the economy when it tanks even further?

And may I ask when this country's debt has been worse? AT least give a decade, for Christ's sake.
