Bang for the Buck

"The economy has benefited from the fiscal policies implemented during the Bush Presidency, but only because of their sheer magnitude. The economic bang for the buck from these policies, or economic stimulus provided for a given dollar of lost tax revenue or increased spending, has been substantially LACKING. This is evident from the massive swing from fiscal surplus to deficit in the past four fiscal years. While this nearly $700 billion swing amounts to nearly two percentage points of per annum real GDP growth, it has generated economic gains of only just over one-half that.

Mitigating the economic efficacy of the President's fiscal policies is that a majority of the benefits going to taxpayers have gone to high income and high net worth households. More than one-half of the tax benefits under the 2001 tax cut, for example, have accrued to the no more than 3 percent of taxpayers earning over $200,000 in annual taxable income. These households have benefited substantially from subsequent cuts in marginal personal income tax rates, reduced dividend income and capital gains tax rates, and the phasing-out of the estate tax. These tax cuts however have a particularly low economic bang for the buck. The near-term economic bang for the buck of reducing personal marginal tax rates, the most significant part of the President's fiscal policies, is only 59 cents. THAT IS, THE ONE-YEAR INCREASE IN G.D.P. IS ONLY 59 CENTS FOR EVERY DOLLAR OF LOST REVENUE."
59 cents is lower than the 2/3 number cited above. More importantly, that is 59 cents invested into the goods and services that would not have resulted otherwise.

And this would be a lie. ZIn that time when those cuts came, I recieved money back, but I am not even near top income. This is a myth that needs to be stopped.

Ok, so, we are in a recession because the buying power of a dollar is so low, which is caused by inflation, which is caused by our debt system. So, Bush's great plan is to borrow more money and pass it out, which will increase the nations debt, which will increase inflation, which will continue the recession. That about right?

This is a rediculous policy. Credit is tight so we will make the budget defecit even bigger!!! Thats ludicrous! His dad tried to pull of something similar and it didn't work!! Contrary to what many financial economists argue (which seems to be most economists these days) the economy doesn't run on confidence and the spending levels of consumers. Capitalism works on capital. Investment, creating jobs, generally making stuff!!! How can bush seriously provide a tax rebate at a time like this and then hand out air force contracts to Airbus!!! It makes no sense!!!

If the federal government really wants to stimulate the economy, they could suspend the federal tax on fuel. If the states wanted to help their citizens, they could suspend the state fuel tax. Here in Georgia, we are paying $3.21 last time I checked. Remove the federal tax, and we are just over $3.00. Drop the state tax too, and we are down to $2.95 plus sales tax of 4%. Considering that almost all goods are transported by truck at some point, overall reducing fuel taxes would lower the price of goods, which would have an enormous stimulative effect. What I find amusing about people like Hillary is that she wants to take the profits from Big Oil, but has never mentioned eliminating federal fuel taxes, which collect more money than the oil companies make per gallon.

Find your state, and see how much you are spending per gallon in taxes. Keep in mind that this is not just on the gas you put in your car, but it is embedded in every product you buy in what it costs to transport them to you, and in some cases the fuel that is needed to produce them, including taxes on diesel fuel.

You really want to see end user economic stimulous? Reduce overall cost of products for consumers. You want to look like the big hero without really making a difference? Cut everybody a check and then take it back from them later. And meanwhile, make sure you point out how much the company that actually produces the fuel is making from it, as opposed to how much the government is collecting on it without adding any value to it at all. Most people will have the amount fo their stimulous check taken out of next years' taxes (unless you are like me and have figured out how to not pay federal income taxes legally). You are being loaned your own money, but as long as it makes you feel good...

LMAO, it aint the welfare folks you should be beating up, but I suspect that you can only kick "down" (as your signature suggests) .

Instead of building all those weapons you'll never use, they should have given you a rag dipped in diesel to stop the ants from crawling up to eat your candy ass.
