Half of America does not pass high school, if America wants to remain competitive politicians need to take this seriously, it will end up just a big wasteland, full of dumb neo nazi's complaining where are the jobs, when they refused to be enlightened acting macho
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080401...ucationsociety Do not tell me it is the childs choice not to go to school and graduate at 18, that is a system failure, better your child hates you and passes school. Parents, white, black, Hispanic better start been serious, or people will just grow up to be slaves as usual blacks have the worst statistics.

It's amazing how far we have let the education of our kids go down the barrell. What will it take before we stand together and do something about it? When will we realize that throwing money at the educational system will not help it? What good are shiney new books and computers if the kids can't read? What good is an expanded curriculum if the teachers aren't held accountable for how well they teach? The current educational system is beyond ridiculous.

What's wrong is the overall break down of how America as society perceives its responsibilities. We have parents who don't care and are not involved. We have a large influx of students who are not disciplined and do not care, partly due to their parents. We have media that glorifies sex, violence, and drugs over anything that could be considered moderately intelligent. How many kids are raised by a single parent? How many parents divorce and go their separate ways? We live in a broken culture that wants to blame all their problems on someone else. Parents blame teachers, teachers blame salaries, kids blame the teachers. If people are going to continue to play the blame game, this will only get worse. A parent who complains about their son or daughter's inability to read, needs to remember that if they can read, they should be doing something about it. What does it say about parents now a days who let their children get that far in life as a dummy?

I've heard that some schools in the states started dropping those courses to focus more time on Math, Science, and English. If that's true, I would say it was a big mistake. Edit: Even courses like Shop, Cooking, Electronics, are very beneficial. Having one of those courses as mandatory per semester would be great. It was like that for me in junior high and I loved it. Do what australia does force the little bastards to finish school. In australia you have to be in some kind of formal education (high school, traineeship, apprentaship (my spelling shames me) or in full time employment) until your 17 1/2. Gives them a good start and prevents alot of them from simple dropping into unemployment when they turn 18.
