At any rate I think we're all agreeing here it's simply that you weren't telling the OP about how in many cases increased demand over a period of time doesn't have to result in an increase in price.

Though in any case the price is still set by the market.

Really what they should take away from this is that in any action related to the markets one must consider the effects it will have at each point assuming every industry will be acting in its best interest. It will react to any change made in order to maximize profits. If you want to affect price or somesuch it must be done by creating a situation where industry wants to do what it is you want them to be doing.
