Take a look at this article which claims that too much money is being spent rich schools and higher performing schools.

Now this is a big problem and a double edged sword. I taught in a high poverty school. I always thought that money was wasted on poor curriculum. I also feel that the more capable kids in our school weren't given the opportunity to excel because they had to wait on others to catch up. The government discourages ability grouping. You aren't suppose to high, middle, and low class anymore. Other then the gifted program, there is nothing else like it. Almost all the focus went on low achievers. If the government puts more money into the schools the article is talking about, then poor school systems suffer. However, if they put it into these school systems, bad parenting and poor school administration tend to trump good education. I think this is a good case for making education private.
