On another political forum, two of the most popular topics of the day are:
-EVERYTHING that is wrong in America today is entirely Bush's fault -JFKerry - a modern day Benedict Arnold? In both cases the proponents degrade the opposition with a mixture of truth and hype while they ignore the reality within their opponents’ harangue. This leads me to ask a pretty simple question: Why do we believe that we can elect presidents who have a balanced understanding of what is good for the country as a whole when we spend most of our energy and effort demonizing the opposition’s opinions? If the trend continues it seems that the only candidates that will be electable are those who spend 100% deflecting the opposition. Anyone here remember “Wag the Dog”? Don’t know if you’ve had a chance to check out the “Mickey” thread in the opinons section, but we’re talking about the feasibility of creating an “anti-party” to see if we can bring the issues that have the most impact on the average American back to the center of debate. This would require conscientious folks from the left and right to come together to talk about common ground and maybe it just isn’t possible to have this kind of discussion anymore. But how can we expect the candidates to get any better if we just swing the pendulum back and forth? Cheers http://vote-mickey-04.blogspot.com/ The Anti-Party…Let’s start a conversation about change |
