The special election in California's 50th District is one to watch.
This is the one where Randall "Duke" Cunningham recently resigned in disgrace (he is now in federal prison for bribery). It's a solidly conservative district, but it looks like the election will go to a Democrat this time around. It is widely considered to be a bellwether for upcoming elections, especially since it has been run largely on national issues (by both sides). http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...060400571.html |

Ahhh.....too bad. Looks like Busby already screwed up BIG TIME. Looks like Ms. Busby was recorded at a campaign event telling people this......."You don't need papers to vote." The meeting was with an audience of Hispanic attendees and only Spanish-language media was invited. On the tape, a man is heard saying that he didnt' "have papers." Ms. Busby told him....."You can all help. You don't need papers for voting. You don't need to be a registered voter to help."
Ahhhh......too bad. Looks like the corrupt Democrat party is going to have what they hoped would happen to the Republicans.....happen to themselves. http://www.rogerhedgecock.com/compon...page/Itemid,1/ I take back what I said on my first post above. Looks like she need to start with herself!!

Neither party has the best interest of our nation in mind, and are equally as corrupt, and unethically minded!! A vote for the democrat or republican party, is a vote for continued corruption, a guaranteed corporate controlled government, and we the people under the control & doing the bidding of the upper elite (top 10%)!!! Wake up and smell the con!!!!

IMO, the candidates to watch are Steele, a black republican running for theSenate from MD and Lynn Swan for PA Gov.
Two Northeast blacks running as GOP candidates could be a bellwether for black migration from a Democrat Party that has done little for balcks to a Republican party that doesn't recognize color.

Republicans retain House seat in California By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent 1 hour, 33 minutes ago WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A former Republican congressman won a bitter U.S. House of Representatives race in California on Tuesday, giving President George W. Bush's Republican Party its first dose of good political news in months. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060607/...election_dc_17

Well, the message seems to be pretty clear. Bilbray won in SD, narrowly but he won. He's an interesting character, he's pro-choice and pro-gun-control, and therefore a bit of a maverick from the conservative viewpoint (and he's also a former lobbyist, which probably explains his narrow victory, given that the RNCC spent over 5 million bucks on the race).
In Alabama, Riley won easily over Roy Moore (the Ten Commandments guy). This was probably expected, "social conservatism" is all but dead as a viable political force. That would be corroborated by the consensus on this forum, over issues like gay marriage, and also by the numbers in Pennsylvania, which still show Santorum losing his seat by a wide margin. In the San Francisco area, the business-backed moderate democrats won by significant margins over the lefty liberals. There were a baker's dozen of such races in California, and most of them came out the same way. What all this tells me, is that people are sick and tired of ideology, and they want practical results. Thoughts? |
