Clark supporters, AU Libertarians threatened with arrest while attending
Republican-sponsored Voter Registration Concert The Clark campaign, along with members of the Auburn University Libertariansmattended the AU College Republican-sponsored "Non-Partisan Voter Registration Concert" in front of Auburn University's Cater Hall on the night of Tuesday, 10 October. After setting up a table in a back corner of the Cater Lawn, members were approached by several individuals wearing AUCR name badges, who informed the Libertarians that they were not permitted to set up a table and some yard signs at the event which was already heavily laden with Hubbard, Riley, and Rogers signs. Clark, AUL President Grace Toles, and others protested, arguing that the event had been promoted through the Student Government Association as "non-partisan." Despite the fact that both the SGA announcement and the Facebook.com event listing described the event as a non-partisan one (see appended text of SGA announcement below), the AUCR representatives vehemently denied that the event was anything other than a Republican affair, and even denied that any SGA announcement had been made. Still, the Libertarians refused to concede the point, and the Republicans, when asked directly as to where they wanted the Libertarian table to be, finally agreed to allow the Libertarians to stay where they were. Minutes later, several uniformed Auburn Police Officers approached and demanded that the Libertarians leave, Clark asked what was wrong with the Libertarians campaigning at a supposedly open-to-all event, and Detective Ricky Holder responded that "[The Republicans] have a permit." When confronted with the fact that the permit was issued for a non-partisan event, Clark asked Detective Holder if the Republican signs would be permitted even though the permit at issue clearly signified that the event was non-partisan. Holder was forced to admit that he had not personally seen the permit that he previously cited and then leaned forward excitedly and addressed Clark, stating, "If you don't leave you are going to be arrested for trespassing." Clark then inquired as to the boundaries of the "No Free Speech Zone" that Holder was enforcing. Holder paused, and then described the area as including the Cater lawn and the pedestrian walkway adjacent to it. At that time, rather than face arrest, the Libertarians moved their signs and table across the pedestrian walkway to the grassy area in front of the WEGL 91.1 office. One officer, whose name wasn't recorded, did helpfully suggest that the Libertarians' table being placed in this grassy area would likely be acceptable to the other officers as being outside the reserved Republican event area. Two *Auburn Plainsman* reporters excitedly interviewed many of the Libertarian supporters who were present and made it clear that the meritless police threat (to which an SGA representative in attendance objected) was clearly news in their eyes. Following this relocation, the Libertarians manned the information table, distributing policy and campaign literature to interested passers-by. Then, another throng of College Republicans, all wearing Hubbard campaign stickers or t-shirts, approached the Libertarian table and proceeded to berate Grace Toles, Dick Clark, and others, using abusive language in the process. The Libertarians calmly answered the heated objections raised by the Republicans to the presence of the Libertarian table, and at one point one of Hubbard's student supporters even physically assailed Clark by grabbing his shoulder. Clark immediately responded by civilly asking the Republican to unhand him, saying, "I'll shake your hand, but don't put your hands on me, please." The student's fellow Republicans rather quickly physically restrained the assailant (a scene which was captured in several photographs), drawing the interest of several Auburn Police officers nearby, one of whom was the same helpful officer who advised the Libertarians as to where they might locate their table. The officer approached Clark and stated that Clark should report any additional aggression to him, to which Clark clearly stated, "Sir, we aren't here to get anyone arrested. We are just trying to inform voters of their options." The officer seemed impressed, but stayed nearby in case of any additional altercations. Overall, the Libertarian contingent represented around ten individuals out of the hundred or so students and Auburn community members that showed up for the rather poorly-attended event. Even "special guests" Governor Riley and Congressman Mike Rogers backed out at the last minute, leaving Representative Mike Hubbard as the only political speaker at the event. Clark will face Hubbard and Democrat Carolyn Ellis at the League of Women Voters' candidate forum <http://citizenclark.com/?q=node/52> to be held on 17 October. *SGA Event Notice (sent to every Auburn campus organization via the "SGA Orgs" mailing list)* *Voter Registration Concert: The Auburn University College Republicans will be sponsoring a non-partisan Voter Registration Concert on Tuesday, October 10 from 8-10pm on Cater Lawn. Hightide Blues will be playing and there will be free food for all. Admission is free and open to the public. There will be special guest appearances by Governor Bob Riley, Congressman Mike Rogers, Representative Mike Hubbard and Aubie. Questions can be sent to Kristy Cottrell at cottrka@auburn.edu.* ( http://citizenclark.com/?q=node/57 ) -- Dick Clark Candidate, Alabama House of Representatives (District 79) Chairman, Libertarian Party of Alabama http://www.CitizenClark.com

Yep. This is old news though. This type of thing has been going on ever since George W Bush first gained ascendancy.
If this is the only way these people can stay in power, then my message is: toss 'em out now. Let's get these idiots out of office, right now. People like that, have no business being in charge of the most powerful office(s) in the world. I don't know about you, but I'm getting really pissed off. Anyone else feel their bile rising? It's pretty uncomfortable, isn't it? |

This is par for the course. Neither party wants any of the third parties getting recognition or seen as an alternative to their corruption and tyranny. Heck Badnarik and Cobb were arrested outside the Presidential debates and we heard nary a word about 2 Presidential candidates being arrested outside the Presidential debates.

Yet you seem to think it all began when Bush became President, right? So how do things that have happened for DECADES suddenly become something that the current President started, in your mind? Regards, Gaar

He's a lifelong Republican who's fed up with Republican corruption and switching to Democrat now since that's the party completely free of corruption.
He's met every president since Nixon and played with their kids at their homes. He's "in the know." You expect too much from non.
