Not good. Ford continues to make some terrible mistakes. Now----you might say it was his father, not him. But he should either insist his father--who works for his campaign--- apologize or apologize FOR his father.

Racism only matter really in this nation politically when its aimed at blacks. Asian Jews etc all get their fair share of comments but it never reaches the idiocy of "outrage" level that occurs when its aimed at blacks in politics.

I think a word like cracker cuts less deep with most whites. We weren't slaves afterall. Actually they call it "accepted racism". For example one can tell jokes about Polish people and it will be ok, but if one were to tell jokes about Jews it would be considered less acceptable, and if one were to tell jokes about blacks it is generally considered in totally bad taste. It isn't any better to tell jokes about whites, and to many it is just as offensive. Of course he can always say that his use of cracker is the same as black people calling each other n*gga...

Yeah, in older terms, prior to ghettoslang, I believe "cracker" is equivalent to "redneck". Not exactly flattering... not without some stereotyping... but not the typical meaning we think of today.
