Default o*ama

US broadcaster CNN has had to say sorry to one of America's top politicians after confusing him with Osama Bin Laden. CNN apologised to Senator Barack Obama for what it claimed was "a very bad typographical error" by its graphics department.

A caption on an item promoting a feature on the whereabouts of the al Qaeda leader carried the caption "Where's Obama?" over footage of Bin Laden.

The confusion came during CNN's news programme The Situation Room.

"We want to apologise

for that bad typo," said presenter Wolf Blitzer on air. "We also want to apologise personally to Senator Barack Obama."

Tommy Vietor, Mr Obama's press secretary, thanked bloggers who brought the error to light and helped make sure it was corrected.

"Though I'd note that the 's' and 'b' keys aren't all that close to each other, I assume it was just an unfortunate mistake, and don't think there was any truly malicious intent," Mr Vietor added.

Mr Obama has been tipped by some pundits to be the country's first black president.

Last year, he said he was considering a White House run in 2008 - and has already had to face questions about his unusual name.

"When I first started to work in public life... people would ask: 'Hey brother, what's with your name? You called Alabama or Yo' Mama?'"

Default How is Senator Obama a nobody?

I guess you wouldn't know what he stands for if you haven't tried to find out.

Powell was a somebody before his presidential ambitions surfaced. To even compare Powell to Obama is laughable.

How do you figure that? Powell was a general in the US Army and I could be wrong, but I thought a US Senator was a somebody in this country.

Obama was a nobody until the media chose him and outside the media he still is a nobody.

Really? How did the media do that? Did they grab him while he was walking down the street and say, "Hey black boy we are going to make you President." Give me a break.

Just another good example of the media making news instead of reporting news.

Sounds more like the media giving someone an opportunity to cast his lot in the race and that someone is not someone you think should be in the race in the first place.

Peace.

Default Obama is a 200 to 1 shot

Obama is a "media concoction" just like the phoney musical group "The Monkees" back in the 1960's. If you want to see the latest odds on all the contenders for the 2008 presidency go to www.weeklyamerican.com It's great. Odds are given for each candidate, and the reason for those odds. Check it out.

My noob opinion= they are cumming all over themselves over this guy. What say you?
They are a violent caveman living in the 21st century. God gave up on these savages thousands of years ago. Why should civil society put up with their prehistoric crap anymore. They are an anchor on a future peaceful society. I say nuke them to the virgins in Allah Land!

I E-mailed CNN and told then that their graphics manager needs to be fired for for such a immature childish rookie mistake.
Mistake? how lame.

You don't think it was a mistake? And an easy one to make at that?

If it happens regularly.... fire him. But I don't understand the outrage over a minor act of human imperfection. Why is this important enough to you to e-mail the network?

Do you think they had interns in control of graphics that were being transmitted over international television? If it was a mistake, which I doubt, it was a very rookie mistake. Not one that should be made by a person in that position. If I were their boss he/she would be tossed out on their rear.

No. 1, you'd be surprised. No. 2, do only interns make mistakes? If so, why are there so many blooper shows out there? Heck, CNN misspelled "sailor" the other night in a story about the guy plucked off his disabled boat in the Pacific. They spelled it "salior".

You clearly don't work wit words for a living. I do. Typos happen to everyone, especially people facing a tight deadline.

Heck, consider this:
http://www.beadesigngroup.com/blog/a...proofing.shtml

Clearly, a deliberate error on their part to embarass, ummm.... themselves?

And maybe they deserve it. But to see a conspiracy when plain old human error easily explains it makes no sense. And getting outraged over such a minor event also makes no sense.
