Default higher prop taxes

Great. Next week I have to vote for a $400.00/year increase in property taxes so my kids can get edjumacated. I hate this!

Last time though!

Why is it that we continue to pay more for public education, but the quality continues to decline? It would be great if there was a way to opt out so that your dollars could go to a private school option or to a school of your choice. At the moment lack of school choice puts those with lower incomes at a huge disadvantage to those with the ability to pay more for access to quality education.

Default .

All of us in NYC feel your pain. Our property values were inflated and then the mayor jacked up the tax rates. At the end of the day, the actual tax payments went up about 40%.

For me, the issue is that the population is EXPLODING in my new area. School funding cannot keep up. State funds lag a year and are based on last years' classroom population.

The more I think about it and the more I see what the districts' "drastic cuts" are really all about, I'm pretty happy it failed.
