Default McCain proposes "League of Democracies"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18412440/
McCain believes in setting up an "association of likeminded nations" for the purpose of peace. He acknowledges our need to listen to other democracies and build stronger alliances.

Another reason to support him in the likely situation that Biden loses the Crat primary (I have full faith that McCain will take the Pub candidacy)

Didn't John Kerry say this same phrase when he was running? I could have sworn he did.

Ya know, everyone is bagging on the Hildabeast for leaning right, to whore for votes. McCain is doing the exact same thing, only leaning to the left.

They both stole it from Teddy Roosevelt. Though McCain actually credits the original.

Hillary comes out and does it after saying the exact opposite. She whores to both the far-left and the far-right. McCain shoots for the center, then goes back to kiss up to the right... but promises little to nothing.
McCain is an actual centrist. Hillary is an everythingist.

Default Hey Folks

That's true. They did steal it from teddy. The only difference is Teddy didn't talk so softly in times of war. He didn't say that when we were at war because he understood that war means action. Personally, I don't think our democratic allies are worth much anymore.

I dont recall Kerry ever claiming to want a League of Democracies. What Kerry wanted was a reformed UN. That is not the same thing, because many nations in the Un right now are NOT democracies.

Default Question

Does the US get to join?

Since the US is a democracy by definition, the answer is "Yes". That seems obvious to me.

+1 point for innovation and leadership...but it doesn’t outweigh the things I dislike about him.

A couple more things like this and I might consider voting for him in ’08 (assuming he wins the primary)

McCain is not my primary choice for president. But he and Giuliani are the ones most likely to win Republican nomination. So if it comes down to it, I'd take him over Giuliani now.

Condoleeza Rice doesnt look like she is going to run, but my secondary choice (Newt Gingrich) might. So we'll see. I'd still take either one of them over McCain.

But McCain has definitely scored a few more points with me.
