Default Ron Paul debates Hannity Video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekfuW...elated&search=

I wish Hannity would have let him finish at the end but he cut him off like his callers.

Hannity's curt style of questioning aside, Mr. Paul needs to be more succinct if he's going to get his message across effectively.

A simple...

"I stated what they believed... what motivated them. I am not justifying their actions."

Maybe thrown in for good measure if the opportunity was there...

"You can pretend that the simplistic version of "hating us for our freedom" covers it all if you wish, but if we're going to prevent future 9/11's... we're going to need to be less intellectually lazy and more pragmatic."

If Hannity's tactics can stifle Paul's ability to communicate his message, it speaks as much to a weakness of Paul's as it does to Hannity's confrontational interview style. And out of those 2 items, Ron Paul has direct control of himself... and he's going to need to focus on that in future appearances.

I don't think it was weakness the host cut him off when he has trying to respond and Hannity was talking over him. My point was just that I wish I could have heard his response.

I wish I could have heard his entire response too. And I hope he makes it further in the race than I believe he will.

That said, I do think he's got room to grow with his responses. In today's media, when a quip makes for good ratings (+ visibility), the first response he gave....

“No, I think that’s a cop out. When people imply that, what you’re saying is that you don’t endorse my foreign policy, you’re un-American.”

...wasn't good enough, in my opinion. Instead of putting the issue to rest with clarification, his "un-American" point merely prods the confrontation along. If he would have bluntly made the distinciton I made in my first reply, Hannity would have had no additional ammunition.

As it happened, though... Hannity in slippery style correctly took the "I never said you were un-American" position... and it's Paul who's hurt more by the exchange than Hannity, unfortunately.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I would like to see Paul forge ahead if for no other reason than the guy's unbelievable "lead by example" record. I just don't see it happening at this point, but hey... I've been wrong before. In this case, I would welcome being wrong.

It's definitely going to be a lot of work for him and his constituents to work their way up and get a republican backing, I hope it happens but I'm not really expecting it.

I think his message could be a little cleaner as well and your response was definitely a very good one but it is a little easier to think about your response than to be put on the spot like he was.
