The latest USA Today/Gallup poll has Clinton and Obama running even, great news for Obama fans (or Clinton haters) -- if it's true.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...-results_N.htm We do occasionally get "outlier" polls due to bad samples or what not, so it will be interesting to see what results from other polls over the next few days. Even if not truly tied, there seems to be some tightening in the race, which as far as I know is a bit unexpected. I didn't see the Democratic debate, but from what I heard, Clinton did well. |

Good question -- I thought much of his support was coming from environuts, but have heard more mainstream ppl come out for him, too. I would guess he might lose some support to a green candidate, but probably nothing too significant. I would guess that Obama would get a larger share of the remainder than Clinton, mostly since Gore has attracted less of the mainstream and Hillary is very mainstream.

The same poll gives 8 of 17 of Gore's percentage points to Clinton, 6 to Obama and 2 to Edwards.
http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08dem.htm For a few reasons, I expected Obama to close the gap eventually but not this soon. Note that this particular poll has a small sample size (a little over 400) and a relatively large margin of error of +-5. The ABC poll a few days earlier still shows Clinton with a 12-point lead, although Obama has a net gain of 5 points since their last poll. The trend is moving in that direction overall.

Ah, there we go... sounds like Gore's support is almost split. Another relevant question:
"Suppose the choice for the Democratic presidential nomination narrows down to Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. Which one would you prefer the Democratic Party nominate for president: Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama?" Clinton: 49, Obama: 46 Which is a significant improvement (for Obama) over last month: Clinton: 54, Obama: 40 If this continues, I wonder if Clinton will be continue to be content with downplaying differences among Democrats. |
