Obama explained in an interview that he doesn’t wear the American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for “true patriotism” since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Hear that, all you folks like Hillary who wear an american flag pin? You're not true patriots. |

Gimmicky and meaningless if you ask me. Didn't get the reaction and media play he hoped for. Kinda stupid to think people would care. I suppose he thought he'd offend the right and endear the left.

but what the hell...
I don't think I could vote for a muslim for higher political office. I believe strongly in the equality of women, and thus, I wouldn't vote for anyone whose religious views were likely to ensure that they would vote according to my priorities. Mormons are probably out of luck, also, along with conservative Christians and Jews. Just my little bias. I don't have a problem with the more liberal denominations, but I think your religious associations say a lot about your personal prejudices. |

Obama is a Christian. His church does have some bizarre ideas about blacks, but it's Christian.
It's not really bigoted, IMO. If someone's religion is important to them, then it stands to reason that it would play a part in our decision. It's not like you're screening your plumber. I could vote for a Jew, and probably a Mormon. I definitely have issues with the Mormon church, but except for a few deranged kooks, it seems like they are good people. Muslims... no.

OBAMA: "You know, the truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest, instead I'm gonna try to tell the American people what I believe what will make this country great and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism."
I just found the whole quote and realized that Obama has called those who wear the flag phony patriots. Speaking is true patriotism. Then, to top it off, he totally implies that telling us his beliefs is his way of serving his country. He managed to insult soldiers, flag-wearers, and mutes in one fell swoop!

heh
If you notice hes running around saying he will undo this or that all across the board. I think the last polls finally woke him up to the fact that Hillary is the chosen one and he's just the guy the media propped up for something else to talk about. IOW he needs to make noise to get attention hoping to hit on anything that will make Hillary look worse then him. He hasn't figured out yet that Nothing he can do wil change the fact that she is aleady worse then him and they STILL accept her. |

I realize attempting to respond to such a question is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing, but wow. Since he doesn't wear a pin he's now doomed? That's ridiculous. How could he possibly have answered the question - 'I don't wear the/a pin bc I'm not a brainless sheep'?
I honestly desire people to answer whether or not the 'not wearing' or the 'answer' is the issue here, since it seems overwhelmingly that the answer is what is on the burner. Imho, he doesn't wear a flag pin - no big deal. However, he's put to task by a question and can't answer, 'I don't want to be like all the other tools that just wear it to avoid questions like this...oops!' What's the big deal? There's no way this situation can be spun positively, but I'm happy to see an American political figure that doesn't feel the need to flock in with the other sheep. Too bad it backfired! |

Quote:
His Flag Pin statement though is a part of his ongoing throw some comment/policy/whatnot out there and pray Hilllary responds with something dumber. I think his latest is dropping "Don't ask/Don't tell" as US military policy towards Homosexuals......aiming for the Billy with that one he is I wouldn't be shocked that he simply forgot/grabbed wrong coat/whatever the pin that day and made up an on spot poltician style lame excuse instad of saying "oh i just forgot it." ...But I don't doubt that once he started the dance he's aiming it at Hillaries pants. Funniest part is-- He's actually using the flag pin in the way he say he's not. Symbolism over substance. a classic example of politicians games. |
