The main thing Oprah will do is pull away members of Hillary's base... women. She is very popular with women and may turn the tides on Hillary.
Other than that, not much. She's really just repeating Obama camp slogans, mixing them with civil rights rhetoric, some spiritual rhetoric, and basically Oprahizing it so that it will appeal to her middle class female audience.

is there anyone who would be better placed to help Obama than Oprah?
just as bill clinton is widely accepted in the African-American community Opra is welcome in white households. superbad, i recall not too long ago you refused to believe that Obama could succeed in his campaign, primarily because of his ethnicity. other black Americans felt the same way, not unlike those who agree with the principaled positions of Ron Paul but insist he is unelectable. but Oprah's help goes beyond her appeal to women. if you see reports of the Columbia event, the majority of attendees were African Americans. if those voters can recognize that hillary is not bill, that she cannot be expected to support those issues which are important to the black community, then a huge segment of the demo vote will migrate to Obama. also recognize that very few of those who support Edwards will vote for hillary. for these reasons, and that he is the only person running who possesses charisma, Obama would seem to be the one candidate who should receive the demo nomination. and that is the kiss of death, because the demo party has a tradition of not nominating the candidate with the best chance to win the national election ymmv

It's sad that Oprah feels she has to talk ghetto when addressing Osbama's following.
I think she opened up yesterday with "I ain't Talking Bout No Books" Here is one of the most powerful and successful business women - educated and very smart - and she STILL feels it necessary to talk trash to his crowd. Why?

It might be because one of Obama's weaknesses with the black bloc is that... "he isn't black enough."
It will be best for Obama if this Oprah thing goes quick. It will help to steal voters from Hillary... but in the long run may become cumbersome. Oprah's campaigning will help in the primaries but not in the general. Also I can't help but feel that Oprah is a bit inconsistent with most of Obama's points. She seems to just be backing him as the "black candidate" which contradicts Obama's campaign. So it will be best for Obama if Oprah just does a couple shows for him and moves on.

Oprah is a big draw..but she is not running. Stir things up?..sure ..then it will settle and Hillary will be there.

Sorry, that was too easy. Seriously, I doubt that much. But I'll bet the Clinton's are spitting mad at Oprah---since Bill considers himself the first black president. And Hillary thought she had the black community in her pocket. Oprah's opinion....like Sean Penn's or Barbara Streisand....is just that; their opinion. I can't imagine anyone voting based on what a movie star's opinion is.

The election is serious business that will affect people's lives. I think the O-O show will leave in people's minds a subtle sense that Obama isn't a serious candidate.
