Default Mccain being swiftboated now?

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...s/5461723.html

Amazing!!!!

This guy is a genuine hero and now he has to relive what the Rove machine did to him in 2000.

Quote:
McCain quickly fired back, but he has seen this movie before. In the 2000 South Carolina primary, one of the most notorious smear campaigns in recent politics peddled falsehoods about him, among them that McCain's current wife, Cindy, was a drug addict and that their daughter, Bridget, adopted from Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh, was a black child McCain fathered out of wedlock.
Quote:
By Tuesday afternoon, a group calling itself Vietnam Veterans Against McCain had sent out a crude flier accusing the candidate of selling out fellow POWs to save himself.

Cindy McCain became a drug addict after surgery on her spine. The rest of it won't fly. He's a hero. You don't have to vote for him, but he is a hero.

If these people support Huckabee, I wouldn't be surprised to see a backlash.

Your link didn't work.

McCain Camp Challenges Mailer's Claims

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Supporters of Republican John McCain on Tuesday assailed a mailer sent to state newspaper editors claiming he sold out fellow POWs to get better treatment while held prisoner in Vietnam

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/5459253.html
(I think* thats the story you waned linked)

This group 'Vietnam Veterans Against McCain' is a group in name only...its basically this guy Jerry Kiley and another named Ted Sampley.
They did the same thing against Kerry in 2004 'Vietnam Veterans Against Kerry'

Frankly I think they area couple of slightly unhinged attention whores.

//////////////////////////////////

On an unrelated really side side note-

Quote:
The group's organizer, Jerry Kiley, who said he also is a Vietnam veteran, said in a telephone phone interview that he has been trying for years to spread what he said is the truth about McCain's record.
The Sampley guy whom the AP never mentions in their article has been bashing McCain since around 1995 or so...roughly 10 years.
This Jerry Kiley guy did this same thing with Sampley to Kerry in 2004.

Yet in the article..note the underlined..."who said"..well crap I can say I'm Santa Claus on th ephone too you boobs.
In all this time they don't even know if he is a Vietnam Vet?

At the top of the article its

Quote:
Two familiar faces will soon be dogging Senator John McCain on the campaign trail, as activist Vietnam Veterans Jerry Kiley and Ted Sampley resume a campaign they have conducted for years against the Arizona Republican and former prisoner of war.
Well lets just say they are both vets and then contradict ourselves later in the same article!..editors?..or do they use them anymore?

This is what our News has become....substandard factless words on paper that would be rejected as tripe in the past...in some cases little more then opinion pieces.

It doesn't matter if you can find out that they did know he was a vet or whatnot..the article was published as is and thats the rub.

Default rove or ted sampley, or both?

http://www.miafacts.org/prankster.htm

http://www.usvetdsp.com/sampbio.htm

i have had two occassions to deal with sampley. the above cites will provide two opinions of him. i have not seen documentation that rove was behind the swiftboating ... it appears likely sampley was

normally, when rove works his dirty deeds, he can walk on snow and leave no prints
samply is less covert in his actions

if you have any interest in the background of an individual who is behind the slurs of that American patriot, McCain, read those cites

Agreed. McCain is a genuine hero. I have some problems with him on certain issues, and I think he has some character flaws, but I would not dispute his hero status.

And when all is said and done, he's not my first choice as nominee. Yet I find him acceptable, and will support him if he is, as I certainly consider him far preferable to any Democrat in the running.

Default what do you mean, "behind" the slurs?

So, what did Sampley do, exactly? Or I mean, why would h want to go after McCain?

Good luck with this smear campaign. If McCain isn't a hero there are no heroes left.

What did the Rove machine do to him? I dont recall Bush attacking McCain's military record. Only Kerry's.

I'd vote for him, but he isnt my first choice. He is Republican where it really matters though.

My favorite coverage of the Huckabee family, so far.

Aside from the fact I disagree with Huckabee a lot, I don't think it's wise to have a president who thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old and creationism is a valid scientific viewpoint. We elected one hayseed already. We cannot elect another.
