Thread: Go Ask Alice!

  1. Default Go Ask Alice!

Go Ask Alice, Who will you be voting for in 2012?

Alice is more than a sojourner in wonderland, in 2012 she is the quintessential swing voter.

By President Obama’s actions and policies, the Democrats have completely abandoned the middle and lower class white male vote. Just how often do you have to be excluded from any opportunity before you get it? In many ways, Obama and the Democrats have moved this group from possible swing-voter, firmly into the “Anyone-But-Obama” Bloc.

In short, there is a currently ascendant sub-group of the Democratic Party/Liberal philosophy who feel that white males need to be punished and fined for crimes committed by two generations gone white males. The “Reparations” are to be given victims who are either no longer alive, their descendents, or any who shares their race & gender, regardless of any connection to the victims. The vast majority of the “Victims” have been given thirty years of preferential treatment to the point that they no longer fit into a “Victim” category in any meaningful way. The only connection between the white male scape-goats and those who actually perpetrated the crimes is their “Paint-Job” and “Plumbing”.

It is no small surprise that the majority of working class white males who supported the Democrats in 2008, no longer support the Obama Administration in 2012.

Sure, there will be sycophantic Liberal white males who continue to delude / guilt themselves into self-destruction, but that voting Bloc is small and was never in play from the start.

But this thread really is NOT directly about the loss of the majority of the white-male vote.

The loss of the majority of the working white male vote could and has been countered by the white women’s vote, and in 2008, Candidate Obama received a majority of that bloc. I contend, that Alice will say otherwise in 2012.

    1) Every female is connected to and often has great affection for at least 6 males: Father, Grandfather, Brother, Husband, Son, Grandson and Friend(s).

    2) If the average American Votes their pocket book, the average American women votes the interests of her FAMILY. When the White Males in her circle are reduced, denied, excluded, disqualified and exempted, it hurts.

    3) Today, if you work at all, it takes two incomes to achieve the middle class, one to provide, and the other to pay the taxes.

So why “Alice” you ask? Why not Alicia or Ashanti?

Alice has special knowledge from her life experiences which allows her to see through the smoke and mirrors and change sides.

Lewis Carol, the author of “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” and “Thru the looking glass”, was also a mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and photographer. Many of the scenes in his books were interesting and fanciful ways of teaching mathematics, logic and logical fallacies.

In the famous scene with the Mad Hatter, Carol explores a Logical Fallacy often exploited in Political Rhetoric.

Basic Premise starts with two statements; A and B. Both A and B are KNOWN to be true (at least at certain times and/or circumstances). It is also proved that A therefore B. The fallacy is to assume that this means that: B therefore A.

I am paraphrasing here, because I can’t seem to find my aged copy of the book, but in essence:

At the Tea Party (Oh those horrible racist Tea Baggers!),

Alice states: “I mean what I say, or say what I mean, it’s the same thing you know."

“Not at all!” contends the Hatter, “You might as well say that because I see what I eat, I eat what I see!” He proceeds to take a crunching bite from the side of his tea cup.

“Yes” says the door mouse, with drooping eyes and a thick voice, “You could say that because I breath when I sleep, it means that I sleep when I breath…zzzzzzzz”

    ... You get the picture.

Now we are told that those evil, racist, TEA-Bagger White Males deserve all that’s coming to them, because of all the privilege they get from being 90+% of the bankers and CEOs.

Well, in truth somebody who is a CEO or Banker, or the son of one, doesn’t need a scholarship to go to college, nor do they need a break in getting a job during tough economic times.

Back in the 1960s, I have no doubt that 90+% of the CEOs, Bankers, and Factory Owners were white males. Now I doubt that today even 70% of those positions are held by white males, but that’s not really the point is it?

    Now both of these statements:

The majority of CEOs, Factory Owners and Bankers are white men.

CEO, Factory Owners or Bankers and their kids don’t need scholarships to go to school or a government hard-times job.
    are essentially true.

    However….

Just because a 90% of the CEOs are white men, doesn’t mean that 90% of white men are CEOs!

    Let me say it again:

Just because a 90% of the CEOs are white men, doesn’t mean that 90% of white men are CEOs!

And after the economic destruction of the last four years, watching her standard of living plummet and the white males in her circle being told over and over again how their privilege of being CEOs disqualifies them, was-middle-class Alice understands this!

In my humble opinion, the critical swing voter bloc of 2012 is white women.

If you want to know who will win the 2012 Election, Go Ask Alice.

If you disagree, please explain why?

Another thread in support of the general premise:

Obama will lose the White Vote big in 2012
    http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002736865

This article focuses on the demographic numbers, and how losing the white vote, being the single largest ethnic voting bloc, will cost Democrats the election in 2012.

One of the campaign strategy realities being missed by many Democrats is that they keep looking forward to a day when Whites are no longer the Majority in America, and expecting that vote pandering to the "Others" is a winning approach.

There are three reasons this just won’t work:

1] On the day whites are not longer a Majority, i.e. they drop to just 49% of the population, they don’t simply vanish in a puff of smoke, but rather become the single largest, most politically active, ethnic voting bloc in the country. If the “Black” vote is valuable, the “White” vote will still be roughly four times as valuable.

2] Currently, Whites do not vote their ethnicity in the same way that other American groups such as African American often do… for now! When the racial preferences disenfranchisement causes very large numbers of the white voters start to clearly see themselves as a isolated, treated as second class citizen, Dhimmi-like status group, they will start to largely vote their ethnic interests as a monolithic bloc.

3] Many families in America are mixed White/Other. The "Other" in those families won't much appreciate their spouse, and more importantly, their children, being treated as second class citizens. As a household, the extended family's vote will follow the denied white male family member. This is certainly true in my personal household.

In many ways, whites will be gaining, not losing, in political power over the next 10 years as they lose majority-of-population status.

Right you are Kurmugeon, right you are...also it shows why he is going whole-hog after the Latino vote...so many ill-educated people there that "go with the flow" so as not to look dumb. Everyone who voted for him before are scratching their heads this time out. My example is my wife...a dedicated democrat that leans to the left. She couldn't say enough about him for two years, but day by day at the supper table I would bring in one tidbit or another and she would raise an eyebrow. Now it's down to complete head scratching and I believe she's going for Romney this time. We don't say straight-out who we are voting for as we both believe that is your choice...to state or not to state. Her friends too are into their head scratching and my wife is a Gifted Resource Teacher, as are her friends...maybe the Teachers Association won't be that much behind him, especially since none of them have had a raise in 3 years and their work load has tripled.

As is the case with many people of my State of New Mexico, I am white, my wife is Latino, my adult children and 50/50 and because their husbands happen to be white, my grandchildren are 75% white and have white surnames.

My wife and daughters see the discriminations that I and my generation have faced at the hands of “Liberalism” and watch in shock as their own husbands are denied, excluded, and disqualified based solely on their race.

They turn then to the grandchildren, the focus of their lives, love and energy, and shudder at the prospect of another generation of “Liberalism” and it institutionalized racial discrimination, this time with the target painted broadly on their loved ones.

For the Latino women in my circle, and there are hundreds of thousands like them in our State, it has gone way beyond scratching of heads, it is fully fledged, bitter opposition to everything that Liberal Racism has come to represent.

There is a political Reckoning Coming to Liberalism, and it can’t be too soon, or too harsh.

I disagree. The Democrat faithful will pull the lever for Obama again. And that is nearly enough votes to win. Without a Ron Paul independent ticket, this election is shaping up to be a repeat of 2000. If Ron decides to go it alone, Obama will win - just like Clinton did in 1992.

After the demonstrated, repeated anti-white, anti-working class discrimination of the Democratic Party for the last thirty years, and the radical increase in anti-white animosity of Obama administration over the last four years....

    Racist is as Racist does!

Why would any reasoning, educated, street-wise working class white vote for the Democratic Party?

You expectations of a “Faith” vote exceed all bounds of credulity.

“We Bubbas may be slow to the uptake, but we ain’t that dumb!”

The Democrats are wrong for America and they need to go and NEVER be allowed back into any public office.

    Hmmmmmmmmm…

Here’s another couple of April 2012 poll result analysis articles which support my point:

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/...ry?id=16057761

In February, 64 percent of unmarried women said they would vote for Obama over Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, according to a Democracy Corps survey analyzed by Democratic pollsters. Only 31 percent picked the GOP candidate. The gap — 33 points — was 10 points bigger than in it was in January.
Now look at what married women say: 56 percent said they would vote for Romney, and only 37 percent for Obama, with virtually no change from January to February.

Some oft-forgotten context: The GOP is the party of white men and white women. Democrats win women. But pundits regularly forget that Democrats have not won a majority of white women since 1964.

    The Trend Continues….

But generally ignored is a factor that is key to understanding the president’s drop in Ohio: white voters. As the pollster’s analysis notes, Obama and Romney were more or less tied among whites earlier in the year. But now Romney has a 49-42 advantage.

Just when will the Democrats admit they've made a mistake?

    http://campaignstops.blogs.nytimes.c...the-coal-mine/

    ...
Obviously, the rejection of many Democratic presidential nominees by whites without college degrees is relevant to Obama’s prospects on Nov. 6. In 2008, Obama lost white working class voters by a landslide, 18 points, although he did 5 points better than Kerry. For Obama, the trick will be to avoid falling into the Stevenson-Mondale-Dukakis trap, and to place himself more in the tradition of Kennedy, Johnson and Clinton. It will not be easy.
