Question from audience on how we can continue to fight forever in Iraq FINANCIALLY but McCain talks about white flags, Hillary, surrender and so forth.

This is a questiont that no one seems to be able to answer - how can a country fight a war for "as long as it takes" financially - not a question of giving up.

It's an economic question.

By borrowing money. Isnt that obvious?

Yeah, debt is bad. But there are things worse than debt. It doesnt play well as a sound bite, but thats the truth.

If you can't protect your country without sending it into bankruptcy, then someone else needs to be in charge.

Bankruptcy is actually a bad term, since a government can't technically go bankrupt. But, as the Grace Commission under Reagan reported - we can reach a point where interest payments on the national debt exceed total tax revenue. In that scenario, you will either have hyperinflation or a major currency devaluation. Both of which would lead to severe economic conditions.

Regardless, you certainly won't take your chances by enlisting in the military.
