Default Smashing stereotypes

Another poster on a thread gave me some great inspiration. He had mentioned that for awhile he had felt funny about putting a flag on his vehicle because he did not want to seem like a neocon.

I went to a Kerry houseparty for the last night of the convention and talked to a few people there about how Kerry supporters can smash the stereotypes by flying flags next to Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers, next to yellow ribbon "support our troops" stickers, next to peace signs, next to environmental messages--etc.

It will so confuse the neocons--they won't understand that we are merely celebrating the fact that we are patriots and love this country too.

Encourage others to do the same!

Good idea, altho most people I know already do this. Despite what you see on this board, people who don't like George Bush don't also "hate America". That's just all they can come up with to defend their "hero".

Pet peeve of mine: have you noticed that even our American flags are now made in China?

So Mercedes--lets see.

Kerry is smart!

Bush is challenged. (and that's accurate no matter which way you read the ambiguity)

Ok--I think I have laughed enough for one night!

Default No more Democrats in office.

I don't see GWB as challenged at all however i will agree that speech making/verbal skills could certainly use some work. So what? GWB has a good heart and wants whats best for this Country. The man takes crap from nobody and he shouldn't. He sent a message to the world that we are sick and tired of their crap. If you want to blame someone, blame the Clinton Administration. We have been targeted by terrorists for eight years while he was in office. Sure he ordered a cruise missile hit here and there but thats it, and what did that accomplish? Absolutely nothing. Why wouldn't the terrorists think that they could down the towers. Them killing Americans and destroying our buildings/ships never bothered our administration before? Those terrorists **** in the wrong back yard this time around. I do not want this Country to go back to the way it was when the Democrats ruled the White house. The Democrats are full of talk, talk, talk, and no action. Sure everyone wants to live in a perfect society where nobody in the world is starving, or people aren't blowing themselves up but you know what? That is the reality of it all and if you don't hit first, they will.

Default mbenz...

How did invading a country that hadn't attacked the US prove anything? You are aware that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11 right? You do know that 15 of the 19 hi-jackers were SAUDI ARABIAN right? You are aware that the people that bombed the WTC 37 days after President Clinton took office were found and brought to justice right? You are aware that the folks that were reponsible for the Khobar Towers were found and executed (by the SAUDIS) before the US authorities could interrogate them right?

What is it that bush has done that is so much better than President Clinton?
He ignored warnings, he ignored the advice of the Clinton administration about the importance of terrorism and specifically OBL and decided instead to focus on Star Wars. His attorney general diverted funds and attention AWAY from terrorism.

And just exactly WHAT is wrong with a strong-minded, independent, free-thinking woman?

Default OK,

Lets stop and look at the larger picture here. Iraq may not have been directly involved with the towers but his Country is/was a breeding ground for terrorists in the same way that Iran, Saudis, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. are. Iraq has been a thorn in the side of not only our Government but also a thorn for all of the Arab nations as well. The world is much better off by removing that man from power. I of course don't know what the particular plan in motion is because only our Government has that plan. If it meant removing Hussein from power to achieve us one step closer to that goal? I say go for it. I trust Bush to do what is right for me and this Country not the rest of the world. After all we have already seen where the rest of the world put their priorities and they are not with ours. When Bush made those remarks in one of his speeches soon after 9/11, do you think he wanted to say "Your either with us or against us"? He was forced to make those remarks because of all of the BS he got from Countries (we thought were our friends) that said they wouldn't/ couldn't help in the war on terrorism. Sure we could freeze their bank accounts and disrupt them here but what good would that do if the rest of the world did nothing? I'm sure he forced/threatened by any means available to him in order to achieve his goal. They hate him for it, of course and want him gone. As far as GWB ignoring the terrorism issue when he first took office is nothing more than him following Clintons lead. When terrorism did hit this Country on 9/11 Bush moved heaven and Earth to to right this problem, (and still is) thats way more than Clinton did. Clinton smacked a few hands and put the issue to rest. Thats why 9/11 happened in the first place. Bush is merely trying to clean up the mess that was left behind by that Administration. Oh and BTW there is nothing wrong with a Strong minded, independent thinking woman if it just so happens that she's not a FRICKIN FLAKE!! I'm beginning to feel sorry for Kerry, that man doesn't have a chance in **** with the people he has surrounding himself, but maybe thats just as well because for Kerry to get the nod from the Democratic party means they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Thankfully Howard Dean lost the nomination. He was seen at the convention paling around with Michael Moore. Don't even get me started with MM. That man is a disgrace to the human race. This is all JMO of course.

It seems to me the bullying attitude of the US administration (publicly saying it would act against Iraq regardless of UN approval while negotiations were ongoing) was a big reason why consensus was impossible to reach. And the implication that the US should be allowed to do whatever it wants ('he was forced to make those remarks') is worrying. Why was he forced to make those remarks? Why could he not have shown some humility and negotiated with an open mind? No-one respects a bully.

In the end, we all want the world to be safer, but I'm afraid the willingness of the Bush administration to ignore international opinion and (arguably) international law by attacking Iraq (which it's now clear posed no threat whatsoever) is storing up problems for us all that far outweigh the benefits of getting rid of Saddam. It was a horribly short-sighted decision when there were other options available. It can only increase hatred of the US, UK and others as the terrorists can easily portray us as dishonest, criminal and aggressive to Arabs. A great recruiting tool.

Default Kerry has never explained - can you?

Kerry agreed, before Bush sent the troops into Iraq, that he thought they had WMD's and we should dethrone him. It is on the record and I can provide web site quotes if you like.
He also said he would have "fought the war in a different way".
He has never explained, nor has the national media, questioned him about what he meant. The 'War" itself was a spectacular military success - nobody questions that. SO what does he mean. Perhaps having UN patches on the victorious troops instead of US insignia?? Would that have eneded the war any earlier.
Or does he mean the war on terrorism, or the pacification of Iraq?
If he means the latter, does he really believe that his French-looking charm will entice the French and Germans to send troops to Iraq? For what purpose? If we had a soldier for each household in Iraq I doubt that it would diminsh the current terrorist attacks against the Iraq people since it is perpetrated by other radical Islamic countries intent on subverting the efforts to bring a democracy to Iraq. And besides, there is evidence that the French and Germans were skimming funds from the "oil for food" program under Sadam - do we want to invite them back in again?
I have not heard ONE concrete idea from Kerry about what he would do, that Bush is not doing, to bring democracy to Iraq.
Give me some help here, you Kerry supporters.

Default Humility over strengh?

I can't answer this question because i/we never heard the discussions between our Countries. Maybe the other Countries had road blocks set up that prevented GWB from completing his goal and refuse to change them. Why would you want the President of the United States (Strongest and most powerful Country in the world) to be humiliated by the Counties around us? Are you kidding? IMO GWB reacted like a typical American. If you won't help, kiss my @ss, i'll find someone who will. Why is an Eagle the symbol for this Country? Because it is the strongest, most arrogant, determined bird in the sky. Do you honestly need to ask why our President chose strength over humility? I don't.
