I would like to say that she's just got a big mouth and says things without thinking. Actually, that's probably true. She tells her husband "Feel! Don't think!". I imagine that what she said is exactly how she feels. If she gave it any thought, she would be grateful for a country where a black girl from Chicago can go to Princeton and Harvard make a success of herself. How many countries would give her the same opportunities?

On the other hand I have my doubts that the NAACP is going to be tapping BillyBob for a leadership position. Even if he became proud of the organization after they offered him power.

She didn't get those opportunities without alot of good people (black & white) sacrificing and dying for it.

I guarantee you her grandmother and great grandmother didn't have those same opportunities.

So don't try to understand her words from your perspective, try to understand them from hers.

I was actually planning on voting for Barack Obama instead of Michelle Obama so this doesn't really effect me.

Those good people you speak of were Americans. The fact that you feel the need to point out that they were different colors is your problem. Yeah, her grandmother certainly did not have those same opportunities. That's why Michele, of all people, should not be guilty of taking those opportunities for granted. She, of all people, should know exactly what sacrifices it took for her to get that far.
