Default Kerry no-show in intelligence committee

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry missed most of the public hearings of the Senate Intelligence Committee during his eight years on the panel, according to his colleagues.

During his tenure on the committee, which provides oversight of national intelligence agencies, Kerry was absent for 38 of 49 public hearings, according to Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.

"There's been a total avoidance of discussion of the voting record of John Kerry," said Chambliss last week, following Kerry's acceptance of the Democratic presidential nomination. "But that's not surprising. There's one area that he claims to have a lot of expertise and that's in the area of national security and on the issue of terrorism."

Chambliss said Kerry's vice presidential candidate, John Edwards, is a current member of the committee, "And I'll just tell you that in the last year and a half we haven't seen a whole lot of his running mate. And I would hope that he would agree to release to you the record of his attendance at meetings and hearings of the Senate Intelligence Committee over the last year and a half, or his total service on that committee."

Chambliss also questioned some of the votes Kerry did cast.

"For example, in1993 after the World Trade Center bombing Senator Kerry introduced a number of measures that were to reduce funding for the intelligence community by $7.5 billion, including a bill that he introduced in 1995 that called for the reduction in funding for the intelligence committees and intelligence communities by $300 million a year for five consecutive years," he said.

Chambliss points out those five years led up to Sept. 11. Kerry did not get any co-sponsors on that bill.

"He's been in the Senate for 20 years," said Chambliss. "Nobody has come to the platform to say, 'This is what John Kerry has done in his 20 years in the Senate.' They're not doing that because they can't do that."

Default SO?

We've been through this before HANS - - did you fail to grasp the facts or are you just SO desperate that you need to ignore them in order to mislead other people.......and yourself?

With no impirical data these figures mean nothing. IOW - in theabsence of data on either the majority or an average Congrewsperson, your data is just cherry-picked spun-up election year b.s.

So he didn't show up for PUBLIC hearings - what's your point? That he's not a media hog? We already knew that!

If you want ANY credibility don't source us Saxby Chambliss, okay? He is one of the 'w' regime's top attack dogs and isn't known for truth or fairplay - - only partisanship.

You should really spend less time on worldnetidiot dear - - it will only feed your disease - it's how they make money off of people like you.

Default .

I think this is actually a real issue (unlike so much else that is spammed about here). If Kerry cannot properly do his current job, why should we believe that he will properly do the he wants the American people to give to him?

I doubt he could take as much vacation as Bush, but his conduct regarding his current responsibilities is not encouraging.

Default AGAIN.......DATA DATA DATA

I have gone through this several times.......sigh.......in the absence of impirical data it means nothing!!!

Impirical data means data from the same pool for comparison. I could pull out a date of the year and say June 30th is the hottest day of the year. Without data from the other 364 days of the year that data means NOTHING.

Get it?

Now you may have noticed that the bush apologists NEVER - EVER - quote ANY attendance statistics from when their idiot-in-chief was running for POTUS - - did he show up for ANY meetings except the ones where he got to sign death warrants?

Additionally, what is the AVERAGE PERCENTAGE of public hearings the Congresspeople show up for?
(and ask yourself why the neo-cons only chose "PUBLIC" hearings.......maybe because those numbers are generally much lower for all Sentaors/Reps, and the committee/floor hearings have a much higher average attendance and Kerry is right within range, hmmmmmm?

(it's the egopigs who show up for all those on-camera public hearings)

Again - - it's SPIN AND LIES iwth no proof or data to back it up - - just like that b.s. they've been peddling about the economy.

How many times in the last few months have we heard the idiot-in-chief LYING ABOUT THE ECONOMY?
"Best Economy In 20 Years" he says.................

HE LIES!

There was ONE - exactly ONE quarter of great GDP growth - 2 quarters ago.

The economy is composed of many facets - not just the GDP.

So to take ONE - exactly ONE - piece of data that's good and to spin it into 'the WHOLE ECONOMY IS setting 20 year records' is beyond spin - - it's outright deliberate LYING.

.....especially when SO MANY other economic indicators - leading AND trailing - are not showing good news at all.

One that IS setting HUGE records is - - - - CORPORATE PROFIT.
Considering the corporate 'hoes who are currently in power, no surprise there, eh?

it's nice that someone will use common sense around here. I'm not attacking KErry on something that he doesn't deserve. This is serious stuff. And as much as Bush does take time off, he does get briefed on lots of security information and the like, as bad as that intelligence may be.

I don't know why Bush doesn't make a bigger issue of Kerry's no-show job.

you have to save the best for last, and that's probably what he is doing. Democrats should better hope that Kerry has something up his sleave as well.
