Well I would be pissed if we elected this guy and his wife and he put Africa and the Black race first. Again here is the Churches views. I guess if you are a attendee then you agree with those views or why else would you go.





On the church’s Internet homepage, in the first section titled, “About Us,” its first sentence denotes the church as unashamedly Black, and then goes on in the next sentence to proclaim:

Obama’s church promotes what it calls a Black value system and Black ethics that must be promoted wherever Blacks are gathered. It advances 12 principles

2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.

I don't believe that this means that Obama puts his blackness ahead of everything else. I know many people who are parents and African american, and it does mean that they have to think about the world in a different way than white parents do.

In a way, parents like Obama and Michelle are trying to swim against a tide within the black community, and there is a sense of collective responsibility within these churches that many white churches might envy (if they were smart enough).

I have no doubt Duke thinks that. But how successful do you think an American President would be should he decide to put Africa first? It's not even a legitimate concern. Will he be more in tune with blacks than, say, a lilly white, blue blooded, trust fund baby like George Bush? You can count on it. Does that mean it's the entire focus of his life? I doubt it.

As far as the church goes, keep in mind that black churches tend to be located in black communities, which tend to be lower income, higher crime areas. Churches in those areas get very involved in the community. None of the items listed seemed out of line to me:

The black nuclear family is a minority in poor black neighborhoods. Nuclear families are better for kids. So this makes sense to me.

Now most people around here knows what David Duke stands for, since LA-Oilman is basing his views on Sen. Obama by a piece that David Duke wrote what does that tell us about him?

LA-Oilman some of the threads you have started on Sen. Obama have been borderline or alittle suspect themselves, now do you share the same views of black people as David Duke?
