He would be a strong asset to McCain since he helped form the Patriot Act that has protected America since the Sept 11th attacks. He has been a true patriot of the country and it would be in the nations best interest to have these two on the Republican ticket in a time of war.With McCains experienced military background and domestic experience in the senate and Ashcrofts experience in homeland security, these two would continue the war on terrorism and continue leading Iraq on the way to a true democracy that Bush has started and continue the current energy policies of the Bush administration. The Patriot Act is the best thing that has ever happened to America to weed out potential criminals with terrorist agendas within the U.S.. It has been a true crimefighter of democracy. I say support Ashcroft for the VP nominee.

i think it should be a southerner to maintain the base. McCain has good centrist-independent appeal. But he needs the Evangelicals to stay with him instead of going to Obama.
