Default Does anyone understand Texas?

Hillary 51% vs. Obama 47% in primary.

But in the caucus, he's ahead with 41% of caucus vote.

What is this happening this weekend? Is this a re-do of the caucus or a finishing up of the caucus?

Why do they make it so bloody complicated over there? The primary should be it and that is the only democratic way to have a vote!

This caucus krappola is not democratic. And its the only reason he's now ahead.

The democrats in Texas are definitely screwed up. The caucus leaders generally consisted of people who do not know the rules and Barack's paid volunteers. Several things contributed to the confusion and Barack's caucus win.

In order to caucus, the voter must have voted in the primary that day. Their voter card should have been stamped and it wasn't in many cases. If the voter happened to save their receipt, they were allowed to vote.

The voter rolls for that day were supposed to be available that night to verify eligibility. They were sent away, so in many precincts, EVERY caucus vote was provisional.

Many voters were told they could leave once they signed in. Once everyone had signed in, the roll was called and those who did not answer had their names crossed off the list.

The reason these things mattered so much is that the voters generally were first timers who had no idea what the rules were. The precinct captains had never needed to worry before because the nominee was already chosen. Massive turnout combined with gross incompetence on the part of precinct captains led to the mess in Texas.

Problem with that is that the exit polls show that Barack won a slight majority of the crossover vote.

I'll let you get away with that one, Bbob. But, only because I agree with it. Don't ever do that again though.

The "operation chaos" probably played a roll. Republican crossovers didn't want to attend the caucuses. Plus even many of genuine democrat voters don't have time to show up for the primary vote AND the caucus.

But, republican crossovers went for Barack. The reason why Barack did so much better in the caucus is simply age. A caucus will always have a disproportionate number of young singles.

You're basing that off the exit polling right? I'm suspicious of that. We've seen them be very wrong before...
Genuine supporters of Obama that may have been republican would admit to their crossover vote while those who were trying sabotage the democrats (vote for Clinton) would probably be less likely to admit to such a thing.

That kinda makes sense. I've never been to a caucus but it sounds like in some cases those with the loudest voices just get their way.
