Default Are POLLS Genuine?

Or are they just a way to try to sway public opinion through a following the mob sort of psychological tactic? More of them are wrong than right in the past two national election cycles.

Most polls are BS. If you want a polling service that has a history of being accurate, check these guys out:

Rasmussen Reports

Here is a comparison of the polling results versus the actual results for the 2006 Senate races.

They also accurately predicted, within one percent point, the last two general election results. I don't think you'll find a better polling group than this.

With that said, no polling group (because of small sample size) will have impressive accuracy all the time. But Rasmussen Reports has the best record historically.

Default My opinion

I think people who are polled use the opportunity to stick a finger in the eye of those, like the broadcast media, who want to use the results to suggest they know what you are going to do in an election before the results are in.

I for one applaud this tactic and encourage it!

Statistician's Blues

They say 3 percent of the people use 5 to 6 percent of their brain

97 percent use 3 percent and the rest goes down the drain

now I don't know which one I am, but I'll bet you my last dime

99 percent think we're 3 percent 100 percent of the time

They say 64 percent of the world's statistics are made up right there on the spot

82.4 percent of the people believe them whether they are accurate statistics or not

Now I don't know what you believe but I do know there's no doubt

I need another shot of something 90 proof I got too much to think about

(C)too much to (G)think about

(C)too much to (G)figure out

stuck between hope and doubt

its too much to think about

97 percent of everything you learned in school was just bull(*)(*)(*)(*) you'll never need

81 percent of everything you got you bought to satisfy your greed

because 86 percent of the world's population links possessions to success

even though 80 percent of the wealthiest one percent of the population drinks to an alarming excess

more money more stress

84 percent of all statisticians truly hate their jobs

they say that the average bank robber lives within 20 miles of the bank that he robs

there's a little bank not far from here I've been watching now for a while

lately all I can think about is how bad I want to go out in style

Polls can also influence how one votes.

People are sheep who like to flock. In public, they tend to go with the "comfortable" opinion, or lean how they think other people should perceive them. In private however, their consciences take over.

This explains why John "Lurch" Kerry lost his election. Everyone was all "rah rah rah" out in the open, but inside, it was "There's no way in hell I'm voting for this schmuck!"
