2 points:
1 - Rev Write would never be getting the attention he is getting now if he never insulted Hillary claiming she is one of the white women who don't know what it is like to be a black man. 2 - This primary was not about race or gender until Rev Write's comments toward the democratic primary opened up peoples interest to Obama's "Black church." Rev Write brought race to the front of the election.

The fact that Rev. Wright is even in the news disgusts me. He is not even relevant to this campaign and his negativity is what is hurting Obama. The fact that he is being used as a political campaign tool shows how much the Democratic party is blundering a would-be slam dunk campaign. At this rate, both candidates are going to be horribly scarred by the time they face a fresh McCain.

I’m white.
I’m American. I’m Christian. I’m not a racist. And I’m offended by Jeremiah Wright. The Trinity United Church’s former pastor put on nearly an hour of smug mugging for the cameras at the National Press Club in Washington. Among other things, he repeated with a kind of glee that the attacks on 9/11 were retribution for America’s sins. He tried to distinguish African-influenced Christian churches in the United States from those that are not. He said, in part, that his recent plunge into the limelight “just might mean that the reality of the African-American church will no longer be invisible.” Memo to Rev. Wright: Do Souls Have Colors? story

I think that's probably true. To someone who is not used to hearing a speaker with that much energy, might think that he was angry, while someone who is used to hearing such a speaker would not find it abnormal.
