This man was on the morning news. Part of a sermon he gave was replayed. In it he seemed quite angry, and said something along the lines of 'We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, we bombed ???, and we didn't bat an eye'.

I clapped when I heard that. I've never heard someone echo my thoughts the way he did.

I don't know too much about him, apart from the fact he has something to do with Barack Obama, and apparently this guy could make Obama lose the election, although I can't see why.

Opinion is opinion, after all.

You clapped? Would you be clapping if Australia did it instead? Countless numbers of American lives were spared by the use of those bombs, including many blacks. He is preaching dissent by making blanket statements about war and government. Anger and gospel do not go hand in hand, sans exorcisms.

War is hell, and just because the loss of life of the Japanese during those two bombings was sudden does not mean they are valued any more or less than soldiers who die over years of war. The fact remians, American lives were spared at the expense of Japanese lives, that's war.

I would recommend you read more about Reverend Wright before you decide to tell people that his thoughts echo yours.

Just my opinion...

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were Japan's chickens coming home to roost.

I will read more about him. My comments were simply my first impression at hearing and seeing the man for the first time. I did agree with what he said.

I note you say 'countless American lives were spared' - what about those innocent Japanese? Why is America more important? That's the impression I got from your comments, and I apologise if you didn't mean it to come across that way.

Are you at all concerned with the innocent Americans at Pearl Harbor. I am sickened by your concern with enemy lives more so than American lives. If I were president then we would have sent the fat man, the little boy, mom, grandma and Crestwood over to visit Japan.

The people who were killed in Hiroshima were innocent. I am sicked by the fact that America seems to care about it's own people, and doesn't give a hoot about anyone else.

Quite alright. In the case of war, yes, American lives were more important to Americans. The prevention of loss of life of one's countrymen is a paramount of war, wouldn't you agree?

No one's life is more important than someone else's when on a level playing field. Again though, war is war.

Yes, I understand that American lives are more important to Americans, but even today, I just don't like the attitude, if you will, that American lives are always more important, because to me, all life is important, not just Amercian life - do you know what I mean?

People in Hiroshima did nothing to overthrow a government that committed an act of war against a nation (The United States) that was not involved. They got less than what they deserved. Then being the great country that we are we rebuilt their country.

They were innocent. Just because innocent people didn't stand up to a Government does not give America the right to drop a bomb on them.

What would have wanted them to do? Asking them to overthrow a Government is a little extreme, just how would you expect them to do this?
