I was channel surfing and what caught my eye was a very angry man shouting from the podium. I was curious about what he was so angry about. This was not Wright, but the man who introduced him, Rev. Anthony I believe. As I listened, I felt as if race relations haven't improved in a hundred years. In fact, I felt as if race relations had gone backwards. We no longer accept white leaders giving speeches fostering hate toward blacks. I really thought that over time, and with races mixing at school when people are young, that racism would continue to decline with each generation.

I listened to most of Wright's speech until he started singing. It seemed OK. I thought it was funny when he talked about Kennedy "pocking the ca". From what I've heard on TV, I changed the channel before it got interesting.

I personally liked the way he separated the way different churches celebrate their love for god. Some are straight scripture readers, others are out right cirrus shows with people standing in the isle and being struck about the head to purge the demons (my take of some), and some are gospel filled, with singing and dancing (Different). I also like how he described a black person’s sense of rhythm and white persons (European) as not incorrect or without rhythm, but just at a different beat. If you listened to this thinking he was going to say something outrageous, you were right. This is what he does. There was absolutely nothing wrong in it at all. It’s a distinct vantage point that makes it acceptable, not acceptable, or painful to listen to. If you are not accepting and understanding of other peoples ways of rejoicing for their love of the lord, then you will have a distinctive stand on this mans views. I watched it and found some parts funny, some parts a little nerve racking (Don’t screw Obama) and others very enlightening. Just my view!

After he said that, I knew that the media would spin it. On the way to work, they mentioned the speech by saying Wright Mocked John F Kennedy Boston accent; without lending the context in which he made those comments. Here we go again!

He did mock Kennedy but I don't see anything wrong with it. We're they complaining about it?

he didnt really mock kennedy, he just tried to imitate his accent to make a point. he also imitated black people, but the media probably didnt catch it because hes a black person himself, they probably didnt notice it, lol. the introduction did sound angry to me, but i know im just not used to it. i was brought up to be a lot more reserved in that sense.

do you know what the above statement means? there is no "mostly unique;" thats like saying "sometimes always," its an oxymoron - its either one or the other.
You are incorrect, per google the phrase mostly unique comes up with over 3 million hits making the use of the phrase not so unique. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

I watched the whole speech and rather liked it. He was funny, and I was interested. From a religious standpoint, I thought he lined up with mainstream "white" Christian views under the surface but had a very different audience and a very different delivery method. It struck me as interesting that his overall message was that we are all equal. He kept repeating "different does not mean deficient." I liked it. I can see why Obama sat through the couple times when he went too far. I can also understand how Wright can go over the line sometimes.

Overall though, I though that this speech will give us all a better view into the themes of most of Wright's messages. I think that this could be a way for us to realize how the media has taken Wright out of context because right after I finished watching it on CNN I flipped over to Fox and was amazed at all of the horrible things that they were saying. They picked out bits that, out of context, sounded radical, but I had just heard them in context and recognized what they were doing.

Unfortunately I think the media will exaggerate some of the things he said, that were designed as jokes or examples and we will not hear the over-arching themes of his message.

I think this could help Obama, but it will hurt him because of personal biases or whatever.
