Fact is, when I heard the first debate with Obama before Super Tuesday, I was opening myself and trying to view him not as a liberal or conservative and I was judging him on his merits alone and his policies. His first policy, I agreed with. I hate lobbying and think it goes a long way toward overshadowing the real work of government. But after that it all went downhill. He strikes me as someone who thinks that words can get him elected. And unfortunately, they just might. He is someone who believes that hihs race can get him elected. Look at what percentage of black voters went for him yesterday. 91% in NC. That's unreal. Why do you think that most of those people voted for him, his policies or his race? I couldn't care less if he was black. I don't think he is qualified to be president (or VP for that matter) and I don't think he has America's best interest at heart. I don't think he cares about me one iota because I don't fall into his target demographic. So he doesn't get my vote.

Like he cares.

Why do so many people forget that Bill Clinton carried 84% of the black vote in both elections?

very good point but if the people are voting for him just because he is black that's a lame reason , if they vote because he is the best choice then so be it!

The idea is that people are assuming blacks are so stupid and prejudiced that they are just automatically voting for Obama, when we don't really have any idea why they are doing so. I'm sure many blacks are voting because Obama is half-black, but I'm sure many others are voting for him because his platform aligns well with their values. But they don't poll this stuff, so we can't say for sure.

But that was against a Republican and serves to strengthen the point. They loved Clinton, now they've abandoned his wife in droves.

I never said blacks are stupid. And not only is Obama drawing a higher percentage of black voters but in raw numbers he is drawing far more. The only reason why I posit that it is because he is black is because of my own unofficial poll that I took at work, where not one of my patients (who are predominantly black by the way) could talk about his agenda but were voting for him anyway.

And if 84% voted for Clinton and 91% are voting for Obama, isn't that a statistical difference? That 7% probably could have made a great deal of difference to John Kerry or Al Gore.

I know you in particular never said they are stupid, but many have said so. Many people vote because someone they know is voting a certain way and they persuade them to go along. Besides, I can't really trust your unofficial poll, since your sample size is probably tiny and subject to extreme variance.

They loved Hillary before they knew who Obama was. The trend was movement towards Obama, not outright support for him.

Black Americans have routinely given Democrats about 90 percent of the vote in presidential elections.
