Obama to Declare victory May 20th. No riots in Denver. Another of the many conservative wet dreams never to be fulfilled. It's looking like it's dream ticket time. No Democratic division. Could it get any worse for the GOP? Almost certainly. And, more importantly, the race-baiting is old and busted nastiness. Even his critics seem to be tiring of the Wright smears. The "elitism" charge is going to be hard to play by a guy who married in to a fortune and wants to preserve tax cuts for the rich vs. the guy who just payed off of his law-school loans... Groovy times, hippies. Barack Obama is now the most powerful force in American politics, his nomination is secured and all signs point to Democratic unity. |

I'm starting to think maybe her reason for sticking with it is now for the purpose of showing her supporters that every state had its choice and Obama still wins.
Maybe all the ideas that she was sabotaging her own party were a bit early. I think she may be trying to soften the impact. Still I don't think this "dream ticket" is going to happen. And I don't think the general primary is going to be such a cakewalk. McCain seems to be chasing away moderates right now... but once a Democrat is picked, expect him to start flying back to the center. And people will forget all about his pandering to conservatives just as they will forget all the baggage for the Democrat primary. McCain is still going to be a tough opponent.

He shouldn't underestimated, but he's well past his prime, and I mean that philosophically, not physically.
He's a flip-flopper in the truest sense of the term: his philosophical framework has shifted, to the right in every case, since 2000. This can only lead to waffling. Moreover, McCain's fate is tied to Iraq, and as Patreaus has said, there's no light at the end of that tunnel. |

But, I think collapsing the enthusiasm Clinton has certainly built would be a bigger boost to the campaign than other concerns at this point. Plus, it would be a great example of Obama unifying... |
