One of the things it said was..."The nation is going to require significant new generation capacity in the next two decades. Depending on demand, the United States will need to build between 1,300 and 1,900 new power plants—or about one new power plant a week." So-----f100-----how many have they built since Bush put out his Energy Policy in May of 2001 which was 7 years ago???? The Energy Plan proposed updating and revamping the electric grid in our country, increasing our supply of oil and natural gas and nuclear energy, while at the same time increasing R&D in areas of renewables and energy efficiency and conservation. So, how much of it got passed during the last 7 years, f100??? And don't say it was the Republicans fault. When they had the Majority, they tried....but were blocked by Democrats because the Republicans did not have the 60 votes to break the blocks. Then in 1995, when such a bill did get passed that allowed drilling in the ANWR, it was vetoed by Bill Clinton. So, since 1980, the Dem leadership has blocked us from increasing our own supplies. So, I say----let the prices keep going up and up and up and up. Then and only then will the public wake up and smell the coffee to what's happened and whose fault it is and what we finally need to do! It's been 30 freakin' years now. It's time this nonsense about the caribou STOPS and we pass a reasonable and much-needed Energy Policy!!

Chief is right. The dems want to raise taxes on gasoline. One even proposed a 50 cent per gallon increase. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/...007-07-07.html Now apologize to Chief and buy him a beer.

I am. Your problem is that you can't recognize the truth.

I never said the Democrats have a viable plan. I'm just pointing out the unbelievable hypocrisy of the Republicans on the issue.

http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsup...ry/360625.html It's the first step towards national energy independence, and we'll eventually get the oil fields in this country drilled. There is some grand delusion held by the American people that oil only comes from desert countries in the Middle East even when they themselves are sitting over it, paying $4 for a galleon of gas!?!
