Default Remember when Bush and the Republicans bashed Clinton for higher gas prices?

Yes, Bush and the Republicans claimed that the outrageous price of $34 for a barrel oil was evidence of how horrible the Clinton Administration was:

GOP lawmakers blame Clinton administration for high prices at the pump, June 23, 2000

What's the price now... over $125 a barrel? A new record high...

Yes, $34 a barrel is outrageously low! How do expect oil companies to make any profit at those prices???

Why don't you stay true to your name? Truth? Bush was bashing the democrats for the same thing he was bashing them for just recently, a lack of a national energy policy. Brazil is now oil independent because they drilled for and found 3 massive oil fields off their coast. We have 3 massive oil fields in Alaska alone, not to mention South Dakota & off the coasts of California, Texas & Florida. The democrats play the same crappy game year in and year out and refuse to help the country move towards energy independence. Blocking Nuke plants, Clean Coal (Utah) and drilling for our own oil.

Play your games Truth and you will be exposed.

They did well at that price. Now the cousan of those who perpetrated 9/11 are getting a major portion of thar $125 that you so want the "oil companies" to get. Everyone who adds value should get some form of profit but is excessive profit that ruins your own country's economy what you want ? If you do than ar you anti-American !!!!

As far as I can see, the reason for the current price of oil is that the dollar is losing value and speculators have concluded that the supply will never keep up with demand. Drill away- it won't make it cheaper for Americans if that is the problem you think will be resolved.

I'm as far from anti-American as you'll ever encounter in your life.

So let's see what the solutions are:

You claim that muslims are controlling oil prices.
The solution would be to invade all muslim countries and confiscate their oil and sell it for pennies on the dollar to Americans. Will that make you happy? It would make me ecstatic!!

The US government makes many times more profit on a gallon of gas than the actual oil companies who supply it. You wanna cut all taxes on oil? I'm cool with that, too!

Default Republican were right then....and now

Yep. The Dems had no Energy policy then....and they STILL don't. And they block the Republicans each time they try to enact one. I'd say the Republicans were right on in their assessment of the situation!!

I recall Chucky Schumer saying 11 years ago that drilling in the ANWR was not the answer as it would take 10 years to see any of that oil. He said the EXACT same thing last week. YES, Chucky----if you never start, you never get there.

Republicans are keeping it as low as they can. It's managing to go up for other reasons. But it would be far worse under the democrat party..

What a ridiculous and completely baseless statement!! It was 34 under the last democrat we had, that is the evidence! Anything else, is you just making (*)(*)(*)(*) up. So you can continue making absolutely idiotic statements if you want, but the intelligent among us will realize how stupid they are!
