Default f100supersabre was a mighty fine airplane

f100,
What I'm trying to get across is that Michelle Malkin was commenting on the book and it's contents. She was originally being asked for her thoughts on the book. She was trying to answer the question when Chris began asking her what SHE thought about it.

The point is, what SHE thought of it was irrelevant. She was refusing to answer what SHE thought of it because it makes no difference what she thought. The subject at hand was the book and its allegations, not her ideas. She was making no allegations of John Kerry self-inflicting his wounds, she was commenting on the content of "Unfit for Command"

If Chris Matthews wants to go after the truth, he should attack the SBVFT or John Kerry. Michelle Malkin was there only to promote her book, which Chris Matthews never got around to doing for some reason. What difference does it make in a presidential campaign if Michelle Malkin thinks John Kerry's wounds were self inflicted? I don't even think she was alive during Viet Nam.

Additionally Chris Matthews didn't seem to be at all worried that his beliefs of who was right or not was based on preconcieved ideas he had without the benefit of reading the source of the controversy... the book. A good journalist, or interviewer who is interested in getting to the truth would have taken the time to be completely prepared by reading the book first. I'm not saying he should be in agreement with it, just that he should try not to be so uninformed in the matter.

You say:
Quote:
The 'book' as the followers of the anti Kerry like to refer to it is at best a collection of multiple people's perceptions and recollections and at worst a collection of fraudulent allegations.
How do you know this? Have you read the book?

Well Sentax we agree on one thing, yes the venerable F100 'Lead Sled ' was indeed a great workhorse for ground support and suppression fire and it could take punishment and keep flying.

You asked if I read 'the book'. No because I have heard so many interviews and read so many excerpts that I feel I know what the intent was. If 'the book" was not primarily the brainchild of ONeil who has dogged Kerry since the early seventies and if it truely was a recollection of veterans, and if it was published before Kerry ran for president I probably would have read it. I will never read Clinton's book ( either Monica's Boyfriend or Miss ' I really am A NewYork Yankees Fan- Hillary) because I have heard too many quotes and opinions and I also know their intent.

Are there things in the Swiftie book about Kerry that may be correct ? Sure. Yet I have seen and heard so many quotes and assumptions leading to conclusions that insult my intelligence that I refuse to partake.

Default No, foobar, that's not it.

Quote:
Chris Mathews was just trying to make her back up a allegation. She was not prepared to do so. The name of the show is HARDBALL that's how Chris plays it. The name of the show is not Affirmative Action For The Unprepared
[/quote]

The allegations that Chris Matthews wanted her to make weren't the allegations she was making. She was attempting to say that she found the book somewhat credible and that she thought it raised some important questions. Chris has majorly lost any semblance of objectivity.

And of course being a Fillipina she bears no grudges Sun Aug 22, 2004 1:00 pm

..towards the Japanese right? In her apologist book she claims that it (U.S. concentration camps for Japanese-Americans) was the right thing to do....Now the fact that the Japanese routinely committed atrocities on the people of the Philippines during WWII has NOTHING to do with it, right?

And you think you can prove this allegation? I think not. Michelle Malkin is a U.S. citizen, born in the U.S. well AFTER the end of WWII.

She's younger than my husband, who is 46. He remembers nothing about the war, and has no grudges, whatsoever, against the Japanese. That's not to say his parents don't have any, but most Americanized Filipinos don't discriminate against the Japanese...those are their PARENTS grudges, not their own.

Default Deep-seated feelings have a way of transferring from

..one generation to the next...

No-one is talking about discriminating against the Japanese, but deep-feelings of mis-trust and dis-like are still there...

Was that the sole reason she "wrote" that book? No. Does it go along way to explaining why she thinks it was okay to cage Japanese-Americans, in my opinion it does.

Default You're in a position of unprovable

logical fallacy, truebrit.

You're attempting an unworkable ad hominem...You are suggesting that her book is not logically sound because she has deep-seated racial prejudices (prejudice that you cannot even prove exists).

hrm.

Good luck with that. Others might buy it, but I don't.

Default I'm not the one trying to prove anything..

..how does one PROVE an opinion?

Her book isn't logically sound for many reasons, the least of which is MY opinion about it....

Default Dude, you're engaging in an argumentum ad hominem

about Michelle Malkin...an UNPROVABLE argumentum ad hominem.

So, you're not attempting to contribute to debate here? You aren't attempting to prove that Matthews' treatment of her was justified? You aren't attempting (badly) to represent a particular position on this discussion?

hrm.

Why post, then?

Default I am posting MY OPINION....

..about Ms Malcontent....

How do you PROVE an opinion?

Matthews treatment was most definitely justifed. In fact she's (*)(*)(*)(*) lucky he didn't throw her off the set, silly little (Fox-paid consultant) wingnut that she is....

She uses her book to justify racial profiling....wonder if she would feel the same if it was a bunch of Fillipino's that crashed into the WTC on 9/11...

Her argument is invalid on it's face, her attempts to spread yet more lies about John Kerry were intellectually dishonest, and your continued demands of me to PROVE my opinion are completely ridiculous.
