"Trophy wife" is a phrase that implies beauty. It pisses off feminists (and I understand why- it's a phrase that reaffirms cultural notions of a "woman's purpose"), but it is quite a far cry from implying that she is having babies out of wedlock.
It's also not a racially-charged term.

So the argument of McCain's "trophy wife" only shows Fox's balance if you are trying to say they are balanced in being BOTH RACIST AND SEXIST!

And there you have it folks. Rascism is still alive and well in America, as far as FOX News is concerned. High tech lynchings are now the fad, and the crap I have seen in this forum lately is nothing short of a high tech lynching. Some people still have a mindset of wanting to "keep the n!gger down", and that sickness goes all the way up the chain to big media.

After this election, I think we may be hearing a lot about the Sherman Antitrust Act, as far as the corporate media is concerned.

Article is here.

Is it possible that the term was used because it rhymes with Obama? [They do that all the time]. There's nothing racist about it.

Is it possible for people to see potentially stupid actions beyond the joy & fun of rhyming? Answer below:

Yes... yes it is Billy.

I watch Fox from time to time, to see the Line of underhanded methods that will be used in the General election. Shawn Hannity is basically having a how-to session for every show. The Latest Baby momma nonsense is especially disturbing, because they have a commentator saying its O.K. as long as there are no low blows or cheap shot's and below the title reads "Obams Baby Momma".
I have noticed an increase in not just the Obama Wink Wink ...Darky stuff, but just about all the commentators say things that raise your eyebrows.

There was a fox and friends session, where the commentator mentioned a monkey being born and then seg-wayed right into Madonna adopting a Black child from Africa!!??! I sat there like . Then if you watch Hannity, they would play video's from the most unpolished speakers of the Obama supporters saying things like “We Gonna go to the white house dog". It’s all designed to outrage people to the point of marches ; to illustrate racial tensions that aren’t there! Divide and conquere.

Why is "baby mama" and "baby daddy" racially charged? I agree that it's an insult as it's used to describe out of wedlock babies. But why is it racist? I've seen the term "baby daddy" used many times talking about whites. Is it racist because Barack is black?

I'm not defending the stupid insulting use of the term. But saying it's a racist term IS racist.

I'm not defending the stupid insulting use of the term. But saying it's a racist term IS racist.
The term's origins are in "black culture".

I guess it's more precise to say it's a "ghetto" term.
And it certainly implies out-of-wedlock birth, which is a ghetto problem.

So even if it's not biologically racial, it is a term with strong "ghetto" connotation.

Fox can hide behind the idea that "ummm... we used it cause it rhymes"... but you're not going to convince me they would use that term for a white candidate named McCama.

They applied ghetto slang to a black candidate... If we give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was a brain fart, it was at the very least stupid.
And then there is the matter of the term's out-of-wedlock connotation.

They're framing the black man as "ghetto". I really cannot pretend that isn't an attempt to play to a racist demographic (and the rest of their audience, who will turn a deaf ear... and then get all excited when Fox launches their "anti-PC" defense).

Fox can only play dumb so much...

Bingo! It was meant to be racial slur. I won't say that makes FOX racist, but it was certainly not a positive or neutral caption.

Actually, from what I've seen they have an unlimted supply of dumb.

Regardless of the "ghetto" origin of the term, it's commonly used now for any unmarried mom or dad. Calling it racial is feeding the stereotype. IMO, it's just as insulting as if it was used to describe any other wife. The left can't just scream racist every time Barack or Michelle are insulted.
