Icon19 Black conservatives conflicted on Obama campaign

"Among black conservatives," Armstrong Williams said, "they tell me privately, it would be very hard to vote against him in November."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080614/...rvatives_obama

Hmmmm, are they voting for him just because he is black?

I'd imagine, as he is pretty far from conservative.

LOL.. What the hell is the point of this thread? Considering their political ideologies don't match, and considering your source has many quotes saying that they are voting for him because of the historical nature of his candidacy and pretty much that he is black.

Yes, they are voting for him just because he is black.

Again I ask what is the point of this thread?

I'm a conservative who is not voting for either of the liberals: McCain or Obama, so I have no bias towards either. Just wondering.

From what I got of the article, that's exactly what they're considering doing.

Why else would anyone vote for him?

COME ON, you may disagree with him on EVERY policy, but to claim people are only voting for him becuase he is black is CRAZY! yes, some may...but all of his supporters? I think not.

Well it states the black conservatives are who are having a hard time to not vote for him. What about white conservatives? That might clear it up a bit.

If only black conservatives are desiring to vote for Obama more than any other conservatives I would think they might just be choosing to vote for him becuase he is black. If he looked like a Hillary Clinton or Al Gore it would probably be different.

Well Obama should not be bending over backwards to placate such people. A 'conservative black man' is a pretty rare thing, and is only evident in highly educated politically active individuals, the vast majority of black people are progressive in their orientation.

In short, 'conservative blacks' are a tiny minority not to be bothered with.

Maybe they feel loyal to the republican party - the party that freed the salves.

Don't you mean black people are more "liberal" in their orientation?

By that logic, blacks are a tiny minority not to be bothered with.
