Default great candidates

In my humble opinion there are a couple of public servants who in my opinion could possibly make great presidents and would like to see them run

1. Robert Casey JR.- i understand its early for him that why i say in the future he is a liberal on virtually everything but abortion on which he is pro life his politics alone make me respect him greatly the fact that he is pro life seals the deal for me.

2.Harry Reid- enough said really outstanding career pro life ,strong values and
from what i can tell a deep sense of duty. Not to mention an outstanding amount of experience.
These are both men i would strongly consider voting for ther pro lifeness alone is probably enough for most mainstream dems to toss them under the bus before they gained any steam (I support the democratic party overall but am deeply pro life more even than many republicans) but all this is just afterall wishful thinking

To the great white flag of liberal surrender.

OK, time for the relevant stuff:

Energy policy

Reid supports legislation that would cut $15 billion in tax breaks for large oil companies and put the money toward renewable energy sources.[45] In an op-ed to the Reno Gazette Journal, Harry Reid wrote, "I am working on a bipartisan energy bill that will create thousands of Nevada jobs, save consumers money, address global warming, and make our country safer. We can do that by reducing our reliance on oil and investing in the renewable energy sources that are abundant in our state." The environmental organization "Campaign for America's Future" gave him a 100% rating from 2005 to 2006
Here's a hack that thinks getting rid of their tax cuts will save consumers money. Maybe he should have focused on economics in college...

if you noticed in that quote the hack your talking about was referring to stopping tax cuts to oil companies not consumers it was about helping consumers turn to alternative fuel.

Did you not listen to him? He thinks that raising taxes on a company will lower the price for consumers.

How does that make sense?

Oil doesn't have to go any higher in terms of price. Harry Reid certainly won't do any good.

even if what you were saying is correct i believ his point was that the whole upshot of the plan was to boost availibilty of alternative fuels but at any rate that one thing you disagree on i dont agree that he would do no good on that basis especially when i believe you argument is flawed

I read the quote you posted.

Not raising taxes; ending tax breaks. Why should the most profitable business in history be given a break over other businesses?

The point is obviously long term: invest in alternatives. With alternative comes competition. With competition comes lower prices.

The biggest problem with the American economy today is that investors, big and small, can't see beyond the next quarter, let a lone the next quarter century.

I don't see any evidence of that at all. Tons of people are investing in alternative energy. The government should not.

Taxes should be lower for every company, not just the oil companies. The government needs to cut its spending so that it doesn't need excessive taxes to fund itself.
