But the point is...McCain wants to cut taxes, wants to eliminate revune for the fed gov't, yet give money out like this in a move that will bring no progress!

I like this idea. The government isn't investing money into technologies that might end up not working, but rather putting all their money into something they know works. It gives inventors the incentive to work toward a better battery because they know once they make one they will get the money to start mass production instead of getting bought out by a big company that then shelves the technology.

Reward them for a job well done, rather than just a nice presentation for grant money.

If Obama had said this exact same thing, the Obamunists would be fainting at his genius. They'd be saying "this is why McCain won't win!"

You folks are really grasping for straws, aren't you?

By the way, I prefer the government stay the hell out out the 'invention business' and leave things up to the free market. But compensating someone for their hard work is the basis of capitalism.

Works every time.

a democrat acusing someone else of falling behind on the issue of taxes is laughable. oh and 76% agree with more drilling so i wouldn't say he is falling behind on that either.

Although we already have a prize for good ideas (they're called "Patents"), I welcome anything that might move us farther down the road to energy independence and greener technologies.

And the koolaid continues to pour in. Those who argue the importance of a smaller government in other forums support big government here.

Also, a new battery? It won't mean a thing unless pressure is put on Detroit as well as Big Oil, and McCain won't do that.

And Drilling? If so many agree, why is McCain falling behind in polls that rate who is better prepared to address our energy issues?

I have a feeling you know nothing about the patent process. And a patent is no guarantee for prosperity.

Drilling for domestic oil will do the trick.

Any ideas is better than no idea at all, because what we got going on now isn't working.

I agree with ABNS, if this were BO's idea you same people would be lapping it up.
