Default Obama on Iraq, circa 2004

“On Iraq, on paper, there's not as much difference, I think, between the Bush administration and a Kerry administration as there would have been a year ago. […] There's not much of a difference between my position and George Bush's position at this stage. The difference, in my mind, is who's in a position to execute.”

— Chicago Tribune, 07/27/04

It was in the early stages of the war. There are not many other positions to take.

The War started in March 2003.

This was when Kerry was running for President, and Obama had to flip on the other side of the issue while endorsing him.

Also, can you explain why Obama is lying about his position on Iraq on his web site right now... since there "were not many other positions to take" ?

Judgment You Can Trust

As a candidate for the United States Senate in 2002, Obama put his political career on the line to oppose going to war in Iraq, and warned of “an occupation of undetermined length, with undetermined costs, and undetermined consequences.” Obama has been a consistent, principled and vocal opponent of the war in Iraq.

In 2003 and 2004, he spoke out against the war on the campaign trail;

The flip isn't really a big deal. The flop back is the problem.

Oh really?
Lol.

I don't understand how, when you're at the height of visibility to the media and the American people, a candidate doesn't go back and check to make sure they aren't lying. If you can find this in a simple Google search, you'd think the Obama-Army or McCain-Army would have people working to make sure they didn't look like idiots. It's as if they cynically believe people can't and won't verify their statements...

The lie about the flip and the flop are especially damaging.

Another smear tactic. How creative.

In case you missed his speech:

2002:

http://www.barackobama.com/2002/10/0..._state_sen.php

And here is the real context of his remarks:

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-..._and_iraq.html

Nice try though, you just took things out of context.
