For someone who actually is curious, here's the info for you to put together.
http://www.legistorm.com/member/69/Sen_John_McCain.html http://www.legistorm.com/member/76/S...ack_Obama.html I'm curious myself, but I don't have time now.

I took McCain's numbers for 10/1/06-3/31/07, and dropped them into an excel spreadsheet. Following the rules cited by CNS, I eliminated interns and anyone paid an annual salary of less than $23,000 (meaning a six-month salary of less than $12,500). McCain also had an office manager quit halfway through, and replaced her with another woman. That would have the effect of exaggerating the female headcount while reducing the average female salary. So I combined them into one entry, which reflects the gender and full pay of the slot. Further, two of the men -- Mark Salter and Christopher Paul -- didn't work the full term, which has the effect of reducing the average men's salary. Rather than do math that could be disputed, I ignored that. The results: 24 women, paid an average of $26,634.82. 15 men, paid an average of $31,240.35. Now I'll look at Obama.

Obama's numbers:
He had more people. He also had eight people (two women, six men) who didn't work the full six months. Again, I ignored this. I can do the math if someone wants to make a point of it. The results: 20 women, paid an average of $25,173.97. 30 men, paid an average of $32,091.98. I don't see a significant difference between the two offices. And even if there were, you'd have to drill down further and look at schedules, job duties, bonuses, etc. to determine how pay really shook out.

Wow, you should call the Secretary of the Senate, and tell them you are smarter than they are! Quote:
