Default Why is McCain Lying About How/When His First Marriage Ended?

True, it's not as SPICY (or untrue) as Obama being a secret MARTIAN or anything like that, but this LA Times story raises some questions that, if the media would crawl out of McCain's back pocket for a moment, SOMEONE might actually start ASKING about.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...,6546861.story

Quote:
In his 2002 memoir, "Worth the Fighting For," McCain wrote that he had separated from Carol before he began dating Hensley.

"I spent as much time with Cindy in Washington and Arizona as our jobs would allow," McCain wrote. "I was separated from Carol, but our divorce would not become final until February of 1980."

An examination of court documents tells a different story. McCain did not sue his wife for divorce until Feb. 19, 1980, and he wrote in his court petition that he and his wife had "cohabited" until Jan. 7 of that year -- or for the first nine months of his relationship with Hensley.

Although McCain suggested in his autobiography that months passed between his divorce and remarriage, the divorce was granted April 2, 1980, and he wed Hensley in a private ceremony five weeks later. McCain obtained an Arizona marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife. (OP's note... is that LEGAL???)

Until McCain filed for divorce, the Reagans and their inner circle assumed he was happily married, and they were stunned to learn otherwise, according to several close aides.

"Everybody was upset with him," recalled Nancy Reynolds, a top aide to the former president who introduced him to McCain.

So your telling me another republican was screwing around on his wife? Seems about right. At least it wasnt a male prostitute or a undercover cop in a bathroom this time.

Yeah, we drag Obama's wife into the presidential race but we leave many of the details of McCain's background unexamined. Well, at least he didn't murder her or something like that. Man, our standards and expectationts keep getting lower regarding GOP candidates.

I dont recall the dems playing "the moral party" role either. Honestly I could care less that Clinton or McCain screwed around on their old ladies, but it seems a lot more common behavior with republicans, espically when it comes to GAY MALE PROSTITUTES or UNDERCOVER POLICE in a bathroom.

True, they have just done things like cavorting with male pages and running a prostitution ring out of their homes.

Democrats never try to take the moral high ground, don't know what all that marked money's doing in my freezer:

"Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history." -Pelosi

Male pages? I believe it was Mark Foley, a Republican, who had the male page scandal, correct? Or is there one I don't know about.

Quote:
The Mark Foley scandal, which broke in late September 2006, centers on soliciting e-mails and sexually explicit instant messages sent by Mark Foley, a Republican Congressman from Florida, to teenaged boys who had formerly served as congressional pages.[1][2] The scandal has grown to encompass the response of Republican congressional leaders to previous complaints about Foley's contacts with the pages and inconsistencies in the leaders' public statements.[3][4][5][6][7] There are also allegations that a second Republican Congressman, Jim Kolbe, had improper conduct with at least two youths, a 16-year old page and a recently graduated page

Thank you.

You know Jovial, for being one to quickly criticize those for all the non-issue Obama rants you seem to be contributing quite a bit to the non-issue McCain rants...

I gotta agree. No party has the "moral" upper ground. Probably why it shouldn't be an issue unless somebody misuses the office they're in.
