Default Why Did McCain Blow Obama's Security on Iraq Visit?

The thing about high-level visits to Iraq... it's generally not a good idea to tell the people who might want to kill a high-level American when that American is going to visit. That's why you never hear exactly when Bush or McCain are planning to put wheels down in Baghdad.

So... was McCain having an ultimate senior moment when he gave potential assassins a window to shoot for?

Quote:
Republican presidential candidate John McCain commented on Friday on the unannounced timing of a high-security trip by Barack Obama to Iraq, saying he believed his Democratic rival was going this weekend.

But McCain's spokesman said the Arizona senator knew nothing about Obama's schedule. Obama said last month he would go to both Iraq and Afghanistan soon. But his campaign has given no dates, seeking to cloak the trip in a measure of secrecy for security reasons.

"I believe that either today or tomorrow -- and I'm not privy to his schedule -- Sen. Obama will be landing in Iraq with some other senators" who make up a congressional delegation, McCain said at a Republican fund-raiser.
If there are two things that we know about John McCain, it's that he doesn't like to talk about being a P.O.W...except for when he's constantly talking about it or putting out ads featuring it, and that only he understands war and all that it entails. So why in the hell would he cheerfully reveal information like this? Did he forget that secrecy surrounds any notable person's visit to Iraq, or did he think Al-Qaeda was in Iran for the weekend and wouldn't be a problem?

This is very very very very serious. We should investigate.......

Seriously though, while I doubt it's just the biggest deal in the world, JM needs to just shut up sometimes. I doesn't help his image when he really does have a senior moment.

I agree... I'm sure this was nothing done on purpose. And since he did it, his staff has been going "homina homina homina we don't know EXACTLY when it's gonna happen homina homina homina it might be Sunday or Monday or a week from Friday homina"... but still. It's careless and it ugly, and it shows again how Baghdad is STILL not as safe as some would have us believe it is.

You really are getting pitiful. At least try and get some substance, like I have.

It's such a big secret that Agence France-Press, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Yediot Achronot, and Der Spiegel has the agenda!

Quote:
The French news agency Agence France-Press reports that French President Nicolas Sarkozy will meet with Obama at the Elysee Palace on Friday July 25.

In Israel, Obama is expected to arrive on Tuesday July 22 or Wednesday July 23 for a two- or three-day visit to include a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, which cited a report in the Israeli newspaper Yediot Achronot.

The German magazine Der Spiegel reports that the Obama campaign is considering a major speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the site of a famous Ronald Reagan speech in 1987 in which the former president challenged then-Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down that wall." A large new U.S. embassy opened there on July 4.

Der Spiegel also reports that Obama is considering meetings with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Obama to visit Israel this month

Barack Obama reportedly will visit Israel this month.

The presumptive Democratic Party candidate to succeed President Bush is expected to arrive in Israel on July 22 or 23 for a two- or three-day visit, Yediot Achronot reported Sunday.

Are you kidding? EVERYONE knows where he's going and when. His Press Secretary's----mainstream media anchors will be accompanying him. That's Brian Williams, Katie Courie, and Charlie Gibson. So will 40 other journalists. And NBC and CBS will undoubtedly be treating his trip as if he was already President. McCain has been on many trips to Iraq and not ONE tv anchor accompanied him. NAH------there's no bias here!!! <LOL>

I also heard that he has a team of foreign policy experts advising him and giving him possible questions that he might be asked over there with the prepared answers provided. But you can bet, it will be tightly controlled as far as any questioning. Seeing as how the man is such a lightweight.

For instance, I doubt that this question will be allowed: "Obama, why is it you're coming to Iraq now to make an assessment when you've already said what you would do on Day One of your administration regarding Iraq? Is this simply a PR campaign or do you think what you find in Iraq might cause you to change your mind?"

France, Israel and Germany are not war zones.

I guess home schooling hasn't taught you how to tell the difference between apples and oranges.
