He did say he wanted something moderated by the situation on the ground.
Its hard to keep a 16 month time line when things are fluid and reset by the insurgents actions themselves.

You really DO need to read my posts rather than just operating in Spin Autopilot.

Obama has SAID that the withdrawal would be contingent on conditions on the ground. I posted proof in one of the other threads on this topic.

In fact, you even commented on it. Remember?

Seriously... it's pointless correcting your errors with facts if you are going to ignore the facts.

Quote:
FARGO, N.D., July 3 -- Sen. Barack Obama raised the possibility of slowing a promised gradual, 16-month withdrawal from Iraq if he is elected president, saying that Thursday he will consult with military commanders on an upcoming trip to the region and "continue to refine" his proposals.

"My 16-month timeline, if you examine everything I've said, was always premised on making sure our troops were safe," Obama told reporters as his campaign plane landed in North Dakota, a state no Democratic presidential candidate has carried since 1964. "And my guiding approach continues to be that we've got to make sure that our troops are safe, and that Iraq is stable. And I'm going to continue to gather information to find out whether those conditions still hold."

So... you AGREE with Obama then. I knew you could be reasonable.

The Spiegle report was in reference to the ORIGINAL un-spun 16 month plan.

Unless you have some evidence that Maliki was reading about the Obamas new revised plan just out this week.

Obama's been saying the same thing since March. Remember?
Samantha Power, the woman who called Hillary a "monster"? That whole thing? Or weren't you paying attention to politics then?

Quote:
He will rely upon a plan – an operational plan – that he pulls together in consultation with people who are on the ground to whom he doesn’t have daily access now, as a result of not being the president. So to think – it would be the height of ideology to sort of say, 'Well, I said it, therefore I’m going to impose it on whatever reality greets me.'

You have to prove Speigle and Maliki know what 16 month plan Obama is using this week.

Maybe you should read the transcript a bit closer.

"Maliki: As far as we're concerned, as soon as possible."

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I'm pretty sure that "As soon as possible" does not equal "NEVER!!!!!".

Obama has said many things. It generally depends on which group he's talking to. IF it's the far-left base he states that in no uncertain terms he's sticking to the 16 months. In front of other groups he indicates he's flexible and it depends on "conditions on the ground"----which BTW, is and always has been Pres. Bush's stance. Only recently, BEFORE this trip did he change yet again and state that he'd make yet another assessment after he's been over there. Nobody knows what the heck Obama wouild do. I don't think he does either. He just wants to get elected; that's his ONLY GOAL right now.

True enough. And if two different stances seem to conflict, he'll just scrub his website and pretend it never happened.
