Default Is Obama Speech Site Contaminated by Nazi Past?

http://www.spiegel.de/international/...566920,00.html

Finally, Barack Obama's campaign has settled on a site for his Berlin speech. But some German politicians have now criticized his choice as being one full of Nazi-related symbolism.

Finally, it's official. Barack Obama, when he arrives in Berlin on July 24, will hold his speech at the Siegessäule monument in the heart of the city, according to an announcement made by his campaign office in Chicago on Sunday. In his speech, he will speak about the "historic US-German partnership" and about the importance of strengthening trans-Atlantic relations, according to his campaign team.

"The Siegessäule in Berlin was moved to where it is now by Adolf Hitler. He saw it as a symbol of German superiority and of the victorious wars against Denmark, Austria and France," the deputy leader of the Free Democrats, Rainer Brüderle, told Bild am Sonntag. He raised the question as to "whether Barack Obama was advised correctly in his choice of the Siegessäule as the site to hold a speech on his vision for a more cooperative world."

Andreas Schockenhoff of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats said, "the Siegessäule in Berlin is dedicated to a victory over neighbors who are today our European friends and allies. It is a problematic symbol."

Obama's stop in Berlin is part of a week-long trip which took him to Afghanistan on Saturday and Sunday. He is expected to travel to Iraq next before heading to Jordan, Israel, Germany and Great Britain. His trip to Baghdad was preceded by comments by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in a SPIEGEL interview (more...) apparently supporting Obama's timeline for withdrawing US troops from Iraq.
That's what this speech is shaping up to look like- Obama is already POTUS, and is campaigning for a political deal with Germany's government and pacifying the German people so they agree with it.

Either that or the "Messiah" is getting ready to announce that he is indeed Christ returned, and will soon be claiming the throne of his "church" in Rome.

It will be interesting to see if it ends with a series of "zig Hi" salutes with millions of Germans standing in the square returning the salute.

I'm still waiting for his media puppets to report all the "facts" he's finding on this fact finding tour. So far all I see is "Obama is lord" cheering and photo ops.

There is no man safer in Iraq than Barak H. Obama.

Both sides want to keep him alive, albeit for different reasons.

That Obama is doing something out of the ordinary from any other touring politition; you continue to exagertae and deride his supporters/him; you're Catholic; you insult the German people without much thought; hyperbole and partisanship. You do have teh uncommon ability to inject allot of venom into very few thoughts.

Tell me, how much money are your parents actually expecting to lose when he becomes president?

What is "something out of the ordinary" that he is supposedly doing?

Let's tell the truth -- we've had hundreds of our leaders go over -- announced and unannounced --- while Obama has never been there. He only went because he was forced into it by public opinion.

He didn't do anything out of the ordinary ...... in fact, he IS pretty ordinary.

I agree. Never in all my life have I EVER seen a nominee for president get treated as if he's already the President in the way Obama is getting treated right now. According to the liberal mainstream press, there is no reason to even hold the election in November. I always thought the media/press was supposed to be at least somewhat objective and fair in their treatments of "candidates." But NOT this time. NO tv network Anchors traveled with McCain to the Middle East and certainly not 60 journalists. And certainly NOT all the photo ops that Obama is being provided. Obama has truly been "annointed" already by the media/press.
