No, it's "anti-American" to blindly believe something that isn't true, and it's "retarded" (please check your spelling) to keep saying something that you know is not true.

Again.

Words MEAN something.

HAS the "surge" achieved the aims Bush set out for it when he said...

"Our troops will have a well-defined mission: to help Iraqis clear and secure neighborhoods, to help them protect the local population, and to help ensure that the Iraqi forces left behind are capable of providing the security that Baghdad needs.”

Yes? Then we can redeploy the troops.

No? Then it HASN'T WORKED!!!

One or the other, kids. It can ONLY be one or the other.

saying the surge has worked when the war is obviously still going... is antiamerican. saying iraq isnt a failure is antiamerican.

you can't redepoly the same troops to afghanistan b/c you need different troops, you need special forces to tackle the tough conditions in the mountains. so you can't just send the iraq troops to afghanistan if that is what you were getting at.

So, troops can't be retrained?

Please.

Icon2 It seems obvious

They are talking about how they will be redeploying them because of the huge success. So what is your point?

WHO was talking about "redeploying"?

Obama? Of course he was. We need them in Afghanistan, not Iraq.

Bush is even starting to come around to Obama's plan with his baffling "time horizons."

Only McCain wants to KEEP them there.

Special forces are special forces. You need to learn what you are talking about. You do not and cannot retrain regular infantry into special forces at the drop of a hat or on the large scale.

And all the troops in Afghanistan are Special Forces? All the troops in Iraq are Special Forces? What are you saying here?

BTW-- which one of us served as a Navy corpsman with a Marine unit for almost 3 years. Which one of us was in the Navy for almost 9. You, or me?

Icon19 What is success?

If it is that successful why are we still in Iraq?

If all is well and the surge has worked, then it is ok for us to leave Iraq because they can handle things now, right?
